What strategy are you talking about when the
population explosion has already become a full
blown crisis?Disincentive is the only answer in the absence of any will on the part of the population to accept voluntary measures to curb
making children.

Education plays a significant role in the population boom. As I and other Indians have seen, in the current generation the poor tend to have more children than the uneducated. This due to intellectual and psychological reasons. The educated, such as the IT workers are satisfied with their lives and desire to have enough children to satisfy their happiness and their need to live comfortably. usually 2 kids the poor though, figure they have little to lose by having more kids, as they provide little for each of them and they do not mind adding another child when there are already 5 living in a room
psychologically, their only everlasting happiness in their lives is not from money but from their kids, who they hope will become more successful than them

I know that so many of us have lost our faith in our president's ability to find good working solutions for even small problems like SCHIP, but I think the Bush family may be the answer to the problem of over-population in India, China, or anywhere. Have all the men imagine Barbara Bush naked and all the women listen to George Bush talk about what he believes.

The Government of India tried many many years ago with the Birth control pill and vasectomies and the people refused to have any part so the fault fall in their laps.It is their own fault. Even educating them about Birth control did not work.

It is high time that like China, the Indian government takes matters in their hands,by implementing monogamy and maximum 2 children law .India claims to be a secular country...but now the time has comefor this to be demonstrated by action. This law should be uniform for all religions, castea and creed.
Besides this, the married couple who adheres to this law should get various incentives like subsidized education fees for kids, lower interest rates on loans etc in order to make this scheme attractive to the public.

once again, start family planning campagn very seriously. Pracitise one child norm and implement this vigourously irrespective of beliefs of certain minority group religions. When Hindus can accept family planning and birth control why not other religions. Impose penalties like cutting down rations, jobs in Govt services if one violates the norm.
