I would be more interested in what the Democrats had to say about high gas prices if these were not the same people who refused to let us drill for oil in Alaska, imposed massive restrictions on building new refineries, and who shut down the development of nuclear power in this country decades ago!

Please note I'm not looking for an argument. I would like an unbiased answer to this question, if possible.

Today I told my teacher I would probably be voting for Hillary because I like her views on many topics I consider important. He said absolutely not to vote for her because shes a progressive, that she's trying to turn America into a communist country.

I tried searching for information on this (progressive, communist, Clinton) but don't quite know what to think. Could someone rationally and kindly explain to me what my teacher may have been talking about?

Reference sites would be wonderful. Thank you so much!

Question for Democrats/Republicans? Do you people choose your candidates for president based on the primaries or the conventions or both? I don't understand the point of having both a primary and a convention. Is that wasteful? I bring it up because this article:

Take the tax cuts. I keep hearing how the tax cuts were just for the rich. Well from the information I have gathered it seems that the rich pay most of the taxes so it would make sense that a tax break benefit them. Poor people don’t pay any income taxes and most middle class people pay very little. So what is wrong? Why the constant attacks against successful people?

according to Glenn Beck, Al Gore has canceled a speaking engagement today to make an emergency trip abroad for an event related to his work on global warming, perhaps to accept a Nobel award.

Why are conservative "Christians" so obnoxius and feel so moraly superior to others. They are often intolerant and selfish. Their views and actions often seem opposite of the benevolence that Jesus actually stood for. I'd be happy if we put all religous zealots (Christian, Jewish, Hindi, Moslem, etc.) on Antartica and let them battle it out as to who was "better", and let the rest of us live in peace.
