Doesn't the weak dollar brought about by 7 years of disastrous fiscal policy have as much to do with the price of gasoline as the lack of refinery capacity?
Can we put a refinery in your back yard now?
Your post contradicts itself, by the way. If it is refinery capacity and not oil supply, then what help would anwar have been? Also, I know of nowhere that oil is used for the production of electricity so what does nuclear power have to do with the price of gas?
Of course, your posts generally are about peddling propaganda and not reality so I guess that is expected.

Has anyone noticed that the price of corn has gone up since we went gung-ho for ethanol?
Farmers can either choose to grow strains for sweet corn that can be used for human food, or strains of corn that are high in ethanol yield. The two varieties are mutally exclusive.
Since the ethanol corn was garnering a better price than the human digestible varieties, farmers naturally chose to grow the more profitable varieties.
But now we are quickly approaching a point in the near future when the edible varieties are going to be in shorter supply. This will inevitably drive the price of edible corn up.
And all for a fuel that is only yields about 75% of the energy of a comparable amount of oil-based fuel, and creates more greenhouse gas emissions to refine it than fossil fuels do.

As someone who will never complain about high gas prices because I think it will lead to smaller, more fuel efficient cars in the end, I have to say I don't chuckle. I also don't hear many liberals complaining about gas prices often unless they are young and poor like my daughter.

Yes, why all events and problems eventually lead to a democratic source, what partisan junk. Nixon imposed price freezes on gasoline in the 70's...6 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN CONTROL IN THE CONGRESS AND WHITE HOUSE could have fixed your items of interest, AND REPUBLICANS DID NOTHING BUT SPEND US INTO A MASSIVE FEDERAL DEFICIT. WAKE UP!

I don't complain about high gas prices. I drive a very small car. I love to hear the people who drive huge SUVs moaning about gas prices. Buy a smaller fricken car!
Personally, I think high gas prices will force people to buy more economical cars and do more carpooling, telecommuting, bicycling and walking. Good for the environment. Bring on the high gas prices.

By "this country", do you mean the United States, which produces more electrical energy from nuclear plants than any other country in the world?

this finished thread demonstrates what's incorrect with American political existence. the two the question and the responses show the combination of partisan hysteria and utter lack of expertise that produces one failed coverage after yet another. Please be conscious that it extremely is suited to the two Republicans and Democrats. the value of oil is increasing because of the fact the international call for for oil is increasing. international call for is increasing specifically because of the fact call for is increasing in China and India. If China on my own have been to start utilising oil at a value equivalent to that of South Koreans (who use much less oil according to capita than human beings) then chinese language intake of oil might upward push via an quantity equivalent to the full annual production of Saudi Arabia. in the event that they used oil at a value equivalent to Europeans then they might require an quantity that exceeds modern international production. That being reported it is going to additionally be observed that modern international production relies upon principally upon reserves that are recoverable via common pumping. extra stepped forward restoration concepts a great deal strengthen the quantity of oil which may be taken from a particular source. via some estimates, reserves from modern aspects could be two times what are at the instant reported. added, almost each and all of the planet's petroleum is unquestionably modern in oil sands and oil shale which, until eventually recently, have been unavailable because of the fact restoration expenditures of $40 a barrel exceeded the value of the product extracted. With oil at extra suitable than $70 a barrel it now turns into economically plausible to apply those aspects. the two Canada and usa own great reserves locked in those aspects. regrettably, the coverage of each administration for the reason that Jimmy Carter has been to maintain oil low-priced. the result has been that human beings have come to have faith that they have got a suited to low-priced gas and to cause them to forget approximately the regulations of grant and demand. the answer is so common as allowing the loose marketplace to function. As gas expenditures upward push new restoration concepts grow to be low priced, easing the fast term difficulty of shortages. persevered extreme expenditures will make progression of sustainable possibilities a financially appealing investment and inspire capability conservation. Ten years from now human beings will ask your self what each and all of the fuss replaced into approximately.

You do know that the supply in Alaska is minimal, not to mention, it would be many years before we had usable oil, don't you? We can't just drill our way out of oil shortages. And I don't suppose demanding vehicles with better fuel efficiency ever occurred to you?

-I chuckle when some misguided conservatives believe that drilling in ANWR will alleviate the "pain at the pump."
-I get amused over those same conservatives who gripe about having to spend so much on gas when driving in oversized gas-guzzling SUVs.
-I get a cheap thrill when conservatives don't realize the root cause for such high prices is due to conflicts in the Mid East for which they have steadfastedly supported.
-I laugh when these same whiners never want to invest in expanding mass transit to ease congestion on highways and, in effect, lessen fuel consumption.
-Last, but not least, I LMFAO when such rightwing nit-wits never want to invest in developing alternative fuel sources to lessen the country's dependency on foreign fossil fuels.
