I'm a conservative Democrat (hope that qualifies), and yours is an excellent observation.
Ever hear of the budget deficit death spiral?

(That's a riot: blaming Democrats. How toolish can one be?)

You sound like a liberal. REAL Conservatives don't carry a credit card balance from one month to the next. REAL Conservatives believe in 100% down and no monthly payments. Real Conservatives don't want politicians starting never ending programs that do nothing but spend money. REAL Conservatives don't mind spending money as long as there is ROI.
Where the heck have you been? Look back at the forty years before the Democrats lost control of Congress. See how many of those years there was a surplus. The closest the US came to having one was when LBJ started raiding Social Security so the deficit from Nam didn't look so bad.

I'm a fiscal conservative.
Running ANY deficit is bad. (Deficits/surpluses are just for one fiscal year)
Bush doesn't deserve any praise. But he deserves a boot right in the ash. He has approved almost every spending bill before him. He burned so much of our money last year; an extraordinarily huge deficit now seems like a blessing for our country. Don't be fooled!
Our national DEBT is over nine trillion dollars. That's 9,000,000,000,000.00!!!
Do people realize how much that is? We can't keep passing debt on to future generations... We really needed a balanced budget amendment negative 30 years ago.
You keep selling bonds to pay for bonds; the risk goes up, and so does the interest rate. Don't take America into a junk bond state... If politicians aren't responsible... It's worse than stealing candy from a baby--They are stealing from future generations that haven't even been born yet. And when it comes time to finally pay the piper -- they'll be out of office or better yet, they will be long since dead. So why should they care if they pass the debt on to the future?
Nay...politicians who aren't responsible, not only should they not be re-elected-- they should be hanged in the public square.
And for the record. People are hanged. Pictures are hung.
You can look that one up in your proper English dictionary.

Care to furnish a link? What do you think of will take place to the deficit whilst Obamacare kicks in next year? to no longer point out that forcing individuals to pay for healthcare is unconstitutional

If you are saying that deficit spending is bad, I agree. So a shrinking deficit must be a step in the right direction. A balanced budget would be even better.
The deficit is shrinking, even though spending is up, because tax cuts allow for real growth in the economy and that in turn generates more revenue even at a lower tax rate. Taxes, like high interest rates, stifle growth.

it's the amazing shrinking dollar - now worth less than the canadian 'loony.'
another bush miracle.
though i'm a terrible consumer (terrible for the economy, good for me).
i won't buy a house in my market which is grossly overvalued - so i have no mortgage.
i have paid off and cancelled all of my credit cards - i now only have debit cards directly tied to my bank accounts - i.e. i don't spend what i don't have.
i liked my car so much that i paid for it with cash and therefore have no monthly payments and no debt.
i live within my means and am able to aggressively save for retirement.
bad for the economy - good for me.
you should all try it.
tell corporations to shove it by not carrying any debt any longer.
let the parasitic politicians sell their souls to the credit card companies, who now have the morals and business practices of loan sharks - what do i care?
i'll never have another credit card as long as i live.
living well really is the best revenge.

ROFL - Actually in Dec 2000 I had close to $35000 on credit cards. Since then I have paid them all off.
WEIRD!
Michael G - The Democrats havent changed anything except for minimum wage and they havent even enacted the entire change to that yet. So sorry, but it didnt have anything to do with them.
Also I just love how if its a problem then the cause is obviously Bush and his policies. If its good news then its because of something Democrats had nothing to do with.

The value of the dollar is at an all time low, so other countries are now investing their money on the US.

Yep when you cut taxes and allow business to grow they generate more income for the government.
Yet the democrats want to take the money you earn and give it to those who don't want to work.
