If someone from Iran or Saudi Arabia were to come into the Politics section of Yahoo Answers and read some of the outlandish claims being made by the far left and far right here what do you think they must think?

Like the Liberal BS about our president being in a conspiracy about 9-11. Or the far right claims that Democrats are all coward commie baby killers?

Do we need the inter-connected world thinking we’re all a bunch of savages? Do our own actions, when we spew hatred at large segments of our own people, somehow empower those looking for justification to hate or mistrust us even more?

Social conservatives (ie usually members of the Christian Right) are always talking about "values" this and "values that". In politics, they are referred to as "values voters".
The specific "values" that they usually care about seem to be things like: stopping abortion, stopping gays from marrying and expressing their gayness, keeping religion in the schools and the public eye, supporting our troops, staying the course in the war with iraq, and promoting jesus and god.

Now I'm not here to argue with those values. I agree that those are values, for the people who believe in them, and they are free to hold whatever values dear they choose.

But what I want to argue is that EVERY human being has VALUES. Liberals and non-conservatives have values too. They may include: protecting human rights, protecting the environment, universal health care, promoting education, fighting social injustice, and peace. These are VALUEs too.

So why dont Democrats show the voters that they have values too

i dont think so.....the democracy in which only two parties are able to contest...democracy where all the major parties have more or less the same ideologies....nothing different to choose from...
where money and media makes the ruling class....

where freedom of press is considered to be possible...but the same media is controlled by a hand full of greedy and nonhuman people....how can that be a fair press.....they blind the people with their showoff....

how can i consider happy in a state where the ruling class cater only the needs of a pretty small number of moneymen....

I've noticed that anytime somebody says pro-abortion...somebody has to corrrect them to say they are pro-choice, not pro-abortion. Do these people not understand that the "choice" they are advocating by being pro-choice is abortion? If all you want to be is "pro-woman's choice to reproductive rights"...don't most women get to make that choice when they choose to sleep with a man? Isn't it safe to assume that EVERYONE knows that sex can lead to pregnancy?

The way I see it, I am pro choice and anti-abortion. If you don't want to have a baby, take precautions when you have sex, or don't have sex. If your choice to have sex leads to pregnancy...then don't have an abortion. You should be responsible for the choice you made.

Just looking for an honest understanding, not trying to judge or call anyone names.

Muslims women dont agree with being one of many wives. They Dont all cover their faces and their entire bodies..... Some do but it is an inerpretation by certain ethnic groups...
they are not slaves... My wife ( Muslim ) is very much of a strong minded woman as any american woman. Its ridiculous that people still choose to believe thiose stupid stereotypes...oh well

In many countries in the MIddle East, if you do not believe in their religion, you can get the death penalty. But in the United States, we have the first Amendment. It guarantees the freedom of speech, but it also does more than that. It also give every American the freedom of press and freedom of religion. I think that the fredom of religion is what ticks of all those dumba s s terrorists. To them, if we dont believe in their god, then we deserve to die for that reason.
