If someone from Iran or Saudi Arabia were to come into the Politics section of Yahoo Answers and read some of the outlandish claims being made by the far left and far right here what do you think they must think?

Like the Liberal BS about our president being in a conspiracy about 9-11. Or the far right claims that Democrats are all coward commie baby killers?

Do we need the inter-connected world thinking we’re all a bunch of savages? Do our own actions, when we spew hatred at large segments of our own people, somehow empower those looking for justification to hate or mistrust us even more?

Thank you Sir. Those are my exact sentiments...you just put them a little more eloquently. I think with freedom of speech come responsibility for the words we choose. However, the optimist in me remains intact for I have seen intelligent banter as well.

Do you think that as in our society, every country has a mix of differing kinds of peoples and opinions? Some step up and give speeches. Some choose to work 80 hours a week. Some choose to volunteer for those less fortunate. Some point guns to force on others. I believe most just want to stay in the middle of the bell curve and have a "normal" live and let live life......In my opinion, the "lunatic fringe" - read edges of the bell curve.....gets most of the press, and therefore reported as the majority opinion.....of any society or group....while the real majority is just keeping on.........I think the majority of every society would agree........just as us, they know which among them are whackos.......whether they have the power to affect a difference or not......

Good question. I believe by showing the world our weaknesses like the inability to get along and tolerate others opinions we are giving the amunition. I believe that if we all become more tolerant of each other then we as a whole can present more of a solid front. And hopefully force other countries to see us as the force we really are.
