To me, our country is the US. I think most people love the rights that the US guarantees. I don't necessarily think that is loving the country. Sometimes clamouring for rights is not compatible with doing the right thing for the country.

I have a selfish attitude. This country, more than any other, permits that. F-yes, I love this country! Anyone threatening it is threatening my ideal existence, and I don't intend to stand for it. That is not to say I'd sacrifice myself for my country. Quite the opposite - I'd sacrifice my country's enemies to save my country.

I'd like to think I do, but lately I get the feeling the relationship is a little one-sided. The country, and especially the government, seem greedy to me. That makes it harder to love.

I know I do, and I teach my children to. I wish alot of other people did because there are far more other countries that are worse, just think if we all lived in Iraq where our electricity was cut off just because their leader wanted, or we had to shop at markets that the food was rotten, or we risked our lives just to vote.

some do, others say they do because they have no other place to love. then there are the people who love the country of their ancestors. i guess it depends a bit on where your pride lies(your past or your present)
