Revelations of notes, and testimony by the top people in the Justice Dept, show that both Cheney and Gonzales have lied about major decisions. They should both suffer the humiliation of being fired, which is much less than what has been suffered by our troops in Iraq! Seeing the pictures of "the fallen", published by the Washing Post, puts the deaths of so many in perspective....I am both sad and very angry at this admistration today.

Would someone here please give me a valid argument against full marriage (or at least civil unions with the same legal benefits)? Because I cannot fathom how someone can be so narrowminded as to deny people rights based on sexual orientation.

It seems the 9-11 Commission left out a lot of details, like tracing the funding for such an attack, what happened to building 7. The whole report was approved by the Bush administration. Do you accept authority as truth or are you willing to search for truth as the authority? We need an independant investigation. There are too many coincidences and unanswered questions.

It's so lame and a little creepy. I once heard a woman begging him for a t-shirt for her 17 year old daughter, because her daughter was "in love" with him. How disgusting is that? Who pimps their kids out like that. Who is egocentric enough to let those kinds of sickos get past his call screeners?

People in this country (USA) want to be "ruled". They want a government that is controlled by big business. They want their constitutional freedoms taken from them. They want a government that does NOT care a thing about them as human beings. They want a government that would not spit in their mouth if they were on fire. Our government, and the politicans in charge, are an exact reflection of what people in the USA want. OTHERWISE they would not have continued to elect them for the past 30 years. IT's simple, in the USA, the government is EXACTLY how the majority of the people want it otherwise, it would not be how it is today.

"If President Bush copied Julius Caesar by ordering his army to empty Iraq of Arabs and repopulate the country with Americans, he would achieve immediate results: popularity with his military; enrichment of America by converting an Arabian Iraq into an American Iraq (therefore turning it from a liability to an asset); and boost American prestiege while terrifying American enemies.

He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court."

Al qaeda is planning on detonating nukes in 7 U.S. cities after the election. Why would anyone in their right mind want hillary obama in charge during worst disater in U.S. history?
It boils down to this: republican platform=energy independence, winning global war on terror, flat tax increased prosperity. Democrat platform= no energy independence, surrender in war on terror, vastly increased taxes/US recession.

I am growing weary of the "the US is the richest nation in the world and yet it has people begging on the streets." So, are all of us productive people expected to cowboy up and take care of all of the "disenfranchised". After all, we're rich, right? Just peel a few more hundreds off the rolls in our pockets to help?

The United States has moved to Policharki Afghan detainees who have begun to challenge their confinement and treatment in American courts. The government claims that the prison is under the sovereign authority of Afghanistan and so lies outside U.S command—and beyond the reach of our courts. Yet these prisoners are being held in a special "national defense" wing built by our government and staffed by American jailers and interrogators. The Policharki transfers are the latest example of the Bush administration's long-running effort to evade judicial review of the thousands of detentions that have resulted from the war on terror.

From http://www.slate.com/id/2172334/ . Read the article; it's good.

Why is the Bush administration so Hell-bent on avoiding judicial oversight of its treatment of detainees? Could it be because it has something to hide?

Working people get screened for drug usage in public jobs, the jobs that support welfare. I could not keep my job if I were drunk or taking drugs.

Also do you feel that the number of dependents (children) in a given household that the Govenment supports should be limited? Would'nt this discourage people from having children for more Gov't assistance.

The closer we get to the end with no return, the happier these people get.

Now they are even training religous clergy to control the masses during martial law. Having them tell their church congregations to: "Just turn in your guns, follow orders and do what they say!"

This is getting insane!

Granted, I am not an accountant or a tax specialist. I have, however, been on both sides of the financial spectrum

Why is there such a common notion to tax the poor less and the rich more? Don't the wealthy deserve to keep the fruits of their labor as much as the less fortunate? Why isn't there just some kind of flat percentage that is taxed across the board?

What do you think?

As UK is confiscating passports for those who don't want a "voluntary" National ID.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54644

Chertoff now says those that live in states that won't abide by RealID need passports to travel domestically???!!!

".....Americans may need passports to board domestic flights or to picnic in a national park next year if they live in one of the states defying the federal Real ID Act.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says there are no plans for a federal database of drivers' information. (yeah, right!)

The act, signed in 2005 as part of an emergency military spending and tsunami relief bill, aims to weave driver's licenses and state ID cards into a sort of national identification system by May 2008. The law sets baseline criteria for how driver's licenses will be issued and what information they must contain......."
