If 1 is really liberal, 10 is really conservative, and 5 is a perfect balance? I'd give it a 4 or a 4.5. For the most part, the American press is just trying to make money, just like the rest of the country, so they'll follow the stories that get them air time and viewers. If they were so pro-liberal, would they have spent *forever* on Monica Lewinsky? I think not. But I'm granting a marginal liberal bias simply because, to get a journalism degree, a person has to get a higher education, and while there are brilliant people on both sides of the spectrum, people with higher education often skew liberal, whether they mean to or not.

Shouldn't 10 be the most liberal. If it's 1 then where do you go from there?

This is such an old rag for both parties. Both conservatives and liberals claim the press is against them, and just as vehemently - it's more useful to be an "outsider", isn't it?
I worked for NBC television during the begining of the Lewinsky scandal - all they were trying to do was just trying to sell as much commercial space as possible, with the stories they thought the most people would watch.
About 50% of the people in charge there liked Clinton, about 50% thought he could go to Hell, just like the general public.
Basically people are idiots and sheep - that's one problem I'm noticing with the world lately.
FYI, I'd rate it a 3-1/2 to a 4-1/2.

If 1 is the most liberal, I would give it a 2 or 3. The only press that is not liberal is talk radio and FOX News. Even FOX News has some liberal commentators (Alan Colmes, Bob Beckel, Geraldo, Greta, Mara from NPR, etc.) and guests.

5. There is NO liberal media. It's a Republican / Conservative / NeoCon myth. They hate when people cry that they're victims, but gosh darnit! The whole darn media in the US is all "liberal" and against them! Boo Hoo!

6 because for the most part it is fairly balanced (on average). The troubling thing is that there is pressure to remove PBS and CPAN (which are neither nor) and that the giant media moguls have everything top lose with advocating liberal ideas
