As UK is confiscating passports for those who don't want a "voluntary" National ID.

Chertoff now says those that live in states that won't abide by RealID need passports to travel domestically???!!!

".....Americans may need passports to board domestic flights or to picnic in a national park next year if they live in one of the states defying the federal Real ID Act.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says there are no plans for a federal database of drivers' information. (yeah, right!)

The act, signed in 2005 as part of an emergency military spending and tsunami relief bill, aims to weave driver's licenses and state ID cards into a sort of national identification system by May 2008. The law sets baseline criteria for how driver's licenses will be issued and what information they must contain......."

NO WAY are people going to fall for this one !! Who needs a drivers licence if thats the way it's going to be.

We can go back to horse & buggy, mountain bike, ATV, or the old "John Deer" if it comes down to it.

Want to see what else is in their diabolical plan?

Guess what.... my passport is the regular run of the mill plain Jane venue and I would never submit to a national ID.

With that said I really see no reason certain guidelines for Driver Licenses such as name, address, DOB and picture should be alarming.

The alarming thing could be if they start up a data database and try to clear out parking offenses, speeding tickets, civil fines and etc

Everyone has to have a social security card in the USA. There is no reason it can't have all the information needed, name and finger print to check ID in a data base. Not everyone drives.
Chertoff needs to uphold the laws we already have in this country. If he told me it was a nice day, I'd have to look out the window to check it myself. If they would stop lying, people would be more cooperative.
What is wrong with companies that hire people with 000-00-0000 social security number and no one reports it and the government never checks it? The government is the largest employer of illegals.

Why not just tattoo our foreheads with our personal info?

This is just an extension of Bush's plan to take over the country. First, he found some people could care less if the NSA or FBI spies on them, now a national ID.

This sort of invokes imagery of Hitler branding people as Jews with those armbands.

I really don't have a problem with the gov't knowing me through my driver's lisence or requiring me to get a passport. I do mind them listening in on my phone calls, monitoring my e-mails, recording which library books I check out, etc.

If my passport and driver's license aren't suffcient ID for them, then the government can kiss my fat ***.

Hell will freeze solid before I let them tag me like a steer in a feedlot.
