Ever been to

http://www.costofwar.com

Go there. The numbers are disturbing. It's a running total of the U.S. taxpayer cost of the Iraq War. The number is based on Congressional appropriations.

You can also see what that "war money" could have done for our economic health. Click on the links under "Or compare to the cost of..." on the page.

What do you think about the site? Is it exaggerating or about right?

I've heard that a lot of the money doesn't just leave the U.S. It also comes back to us in form of jobs.

You know a lot of us on here (especially in the government and politics section) really do forget that not everyone is in the same demographics that we are...IOW...we forget that there ARE minors that come on here and read this stuff too.

I think that it would be nice to have an adult section...

and let the games begin.... >:-)

Ever noticed that when a politician wants to bull her/his opinion over that of more rational people, or wants to bury something that could hurt his/her position, they use the same wealel phrases, like "It' time to put that behind us!", "The debate is over!", "I was kept out of the loop!", etc. etc.? How many more have you noticed being over used? Party or political orientation does not seem to matter, the common bonds seem to be guilt and deception.

Arguments for the yes side of this would be nice please. I'm not saying that that is my veiw necessairly but that is the view that my teacher wants us to argue.

Here is what i have so far...America is about protecting people’s right for life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. By annexing a nation such as the phillippines we are upholding our ideas because we are granting the people of the country these basic rights with our proven system of democracy.

And we must pretend that it is 1898.

Could he get the "swing vote"?

are you worried about his past scandals? (from having to resign from the House to various ethics charges)

at the very least he seems polarized with quite a bit of baggage... (kind of like Hillary in a way)

what do you think?

or could there be a sneaking suspicion that his motives for his decisions are fuelled by interest in self gain ? Certainly the man will leave the white house a far wealthier man than when he entered and his buddies wont have anything to moan about either. He bequeaths to his successor an unholy mess to sort out and walks away into the sunset minus only his credibility
