I think that parents should control their own children and not expect Yahoo, the government or other entity babysit their children.
Besides if their are minors who are actually interested in Politics they should be mature enough to handle spirited debate.

Yes, but the problem is how to moderate it. Unless yahoo has moderators on those boards 24/7, there is no way of keeping kids out of an adult section. All they currently have is the are you 18 and over nonsense, and who does that stop? It's like the 360, yahoo says you have to be 18 to have a 360, but does that stop people? Heck no. Having an adults only section would just attrack them more.

I think that instead of having an adult section, people should simply put things on here that would be decent for anyone to read, not just "adults". And if it's bad for a minor to see some of the stuff on here, how is it any better for an adult to see it?

No. Why would Yahoo want to assume liability and expense to maintain an adult section? That does not make good business sense.

Adult section? Why do you want to exclude 99.9% of the members? How would you suggest that Y!A establish proof of age. Are you talking about chronological or emotional age?
Good idea in theory, hard to implement in practice.

I like the community standards. It forces people to be civil, and if not they get their just deserves. The difference between adults and minors are that the adults are supposed to be learned and civil. You can be clever, witty, and smart without being rude and crude.

Yup that would be great. But how to enforce it???
I'm not at all interested in talking about politics, but there's lots of other grown up stuff to talk about.
