that if you put your pin number in backwards that it will give you the money but the police will be called to that location, so incase your being robbed you can get the $$ but the police will be on their way? I heard that it was on the news and if you say yes can you tell me where you got your info.

It's not quite true. Apparently it is possible but the banks have stayed away from it for various reasons. (What if your PIN is 2442?)

Also, unsure if people would have the presence of mind to quickly remember their PIN backwards in a stressfull situation which might tip off the robber and possibly make him/her violent.

I have not heard of that before however if it were true I am sure everyone would be doing it just for fun to see how it works. Also, the robber would likely be long gone by the time the police make it there since it would have to go through a third-party who calls police dispatch. Lastly, do you really want to be the hostage when police cars pull up when the guy probably would have let you go anyway had the police not arrived and freaked him out? (Yes, I know there are exceptions to my last statement but it is generally a correct statement.)

Not true... It was a suggest long time ago but was never approved. It means the bank has to keep two pin number records and can't let people who have pins that are the same backwards as record cause that would not work and it would be expensive. A long time e-Rumor.....

besides what if your pin number is the same fowards or backwards. Every time you tried to take money out the police would come. I would have to say that is false.

It is at least not true with most United States banks. However the bank may choose to set up a system to allow for this. See the link below for more info:

I'm going to have to say not true. How would that work with pins such as "0110" or "6556"?
