Most mass media companies run under a theory easily called the Lippman theory. What Lippman, who was hired by Woodrow Wilson, decided was that the media should be left up to the extremely intelligent, and what is told to the public should be decided by these intelligent people.

With only 5-6 different cooperations running 90% of the worlds media... What do you think is going on? They are agreeing on what to tell you.

Think of it this way. Rupert Murdoch (Fox) bought Myspace, but they are advertising an NBC television show. NBC is a rival (So called "Liberal") news company owned by Bob Wright.

Time Warner (CNN) and Fox both have affiliations with each other as well. Ain't that some sh*t? Check out their 10 year affiliation deals.

Bush: "I will protect you from terrorist"
Bush Lovers: Only He will protect us from terrorist, you wont.
Real World: Nuclear Proliferation is UP, terror attacks have INCREASED worldwide, anti-american hatred has increased significantly.

Bush: Our Economy is Strong!
Bush Lovers: Our Economy is strong! Dow is over 15,000!
Real World: US is selling debt to other counties (china) while decreasing exports.. creating a weaker dollar, putting us into debt and raising the federal deficit to the highest level in history.

Those are just two small examples.. but the question is serious.. what is wrong with these people that believe this guy? Im almost embarrased to say im american when I travel to other countries. And the only responses people can give are blaming clinton for monica lewinsky?

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to open your eyes and start looking around. Everyone wants a new law to 'protect' them from someone doing something else. People accept the Patriot act without arguing. We are loosing our personal freedoms to 'security' and political correctness. How can anyone possibly justify this?

Do you think that globalisation and free trade is good or is it just a case of hunting for the cheapest labour and the lowest taxes, so that big companies make enourmous gains, while people suffer from exploatation or unemployement around the world?

In my opinion, it's ludicris. Even if people receive "tax breaks" with the removal of employer health care insurance, the money received from the "tax break" would go to paying the outrageous cost of a PPO or HMO private health care inurance directly to the company versus indirectly having a smaller amount taken out of your salary. Hmmmm...just something to think about...read the article and tell me what you think.

Section 220 of S. 1, the lobbying reform bill before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress, as lobbyists are required.

"Section 220 would amend existing lobbying reporting law by creating the most expansive intrusion on First Amendment rights ever," Viguerie said.

For the first time in history, he stated, critics of Congress will need to register and report with Congress itself.

In case you geniuses who think you know the difference between medias (liberal, conservative, democratic, republican) don't know the difference between these two men.

Lippman
Agenda-setting theory is the creation of public awareness and concern of salient issues by the news media. Agenda-setting theory’s central axiom is salience transfer, in other words, the mass media have the ability to transfer importance of items on their mass agendas to the public agendas. Media agenda is the set of issues addressed by media sources and public agenda is the issues the public consider important (Miller 2005). In 1963 Bernard Cohen stated, “The press may not be successful much of the time in telling people what to think, but it is stunningly successful in telling its readers what to think about (Griffin, 2006).” Agenda-setting theory was introduced in 1972 by two scholars, Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. The two scholars studied the role of the media in 1968 presidential campaign..smore detail

Other than his mission to liberate Iraq, was the cost of all the casualties worth it?

i'm not trying to be a conspirator, but other than casualties, there were also some soldier-to-civilian brutalities. the pictures show, though its not in the news, they won't allow it.

opinions from Iraqis and Americans would be good, as they are in the heat of the situation.

(I'm not an American. im being neutral, not supportive or attacking him)

[I mean, if someone wanted to, they could try to take a positive stance here, and try to suggest some sort of 'way forward' for the country. It might make sense to try to try to try not to spend so much time towards 'trivial pursuit' and instead recognize the 'clear and present danger' facing our country. The quicker that the liberals can change their tune, the better chance we have at living as a whole.]

I submit to you that there is nothing more ridiculous -- nothing that can be conceived that is more patently ludicrous than subsidies for oil companies right now. I challenge anyone to come up with something more preposterous.

The imagination strains even to come up with something that is in the ball park.

How about a $10 billion grant to Harpo Productions for struggling Oprah Winfrey? A donation of the entire State of Rhode Island to Donald Trump -- a man hurting for real estate?

I know -- how about some competitive protection for Microsoft and Wal-Mart?
