i think as more people move into the larger cities and learn that you must put yourself first in order to survive, they forget to care for others. if you go into the heartland of america and visit the smaller towns and communities, you will find that compassion and understanding are still going strong. in the part of indiana where i live, it isnt uncommon to see stranger waving at you. people you dont know offering to do things for you without asking for a return, or your name. kids in our schools are still taught that "character counts" and are taught to live with moral and compassion. it is a requirement that no one is left out and there is a bully policy in effect. if a cheerleader is mean to her classmates then she has to give up her uniform.

i do not think all americans are hateful and rude, i just think it is where you are looking..

last week my son was unable to eat solid food and i went to the store to get him some ice cream. a lady was standing by the ice cream looking confussed. i said hello and she asked if i was going to buy ice cream. i told her that my son had requested some because his throat hurt. she said " would you mind if i bought it for you? i am on a diet but my lean cuisines come with free ice cream and i dont want the ice cream. can i buy yours for you?" this is a true story and i have no idea who this lady was. i do know however that there is hope for mankind and that all have not forgotten that success in life is not meased by money but rather by the lessons of the heart.

When I went to NYC for a vacation, everyone told me how rude the New Yorkers would be, especially to me, a nonNYer. Well, I went, and I smiled at people and said weird things like "Please" and "Thank you" and "Have a nice day" while looking them in the eye, and you know what? They were all real nice to me, a little shocked at first, but quickly warmed up.

I think it's that way anywhere you go. With some exceptions, if you treat the people nicely, they'll be nice back. One of the exceptions being the internet, where people seem to revel in being *******.

we are ignorant, which make us arrogant. lets face it most Americans never leave their hometowns, let alone visit another culture. but our nation tells us we are the best at everything, though we buy better built foreign cars, crave foreign desinged clothes, etc. the second part is we lead tougher lives than people believe. we are not hapy. Yes we have money, but we work longer than any other group of people to get it and we are determined to defend it.

The Americans that you are talking about are most likely Yankees from the north US.

They are rude and hateful.

People are hateful and rude because they are unhappy people and they feel they need to take it out on others.
