In my opinion, it's ludicris. Even if people receive "tax breaks" with the removal of employer health care insurance, the money received from the "tax break" would go to paying the outrageous cost of a PPO or HMO private health care inurance directly to the company versus indirectly having a smaller amount taken out of your salary. Hmmmm...just something to think about...read the article and tell me what you think.

Someone mentioned that I'm against working people and that's totally untrue. I'm all for tax breaks if they come without any strings attached. The string attached with his proposal is that the 160+ million Americans who depend on health care insurance to be provided by their employers (for themselves and their dependents) will no longer have this option. Instead, they will have to go online (or some government office) and search for their own ["not so"] affordable health care insurance. It's crazy. Have any of you ever searched for the price of health care insurance that wasn't frationalized based on your job. Yeah at work you may only hae $50 or $60/month removed for yourself and a little more if you have dependents, but without that you're looking at spending $130+/month for insurance not to mention rising prescription costs and dental.

Bush is trying to put up obstacles to employer health benefits by REMOVING the tax exemption of employer health plans while giving a tax deduction to single policy holders.

This breaks down the large group policies and allows the health insurers to more easily overcharge people as individual policies.

It's an attempt to hand a perk to his insurance industry donors while pretending to do something for consumers:
as always, look to what he tries to take away when he is pretending to give.
