well, it's not so much a party as a way of thinking... you can still be a Republican or Democrat, and be in the United Party...

I propose a group/way of thought where we put the major issues that the parties differ on behind us, at least long enough to work on the issues that we can ALL (for the most part) agree need to be adressed...

Some of the issues that could be addressed (graned, this is all new and subject to change):

1. Terror... we need to keep up the war on terror, and need to take a more pro-active stance in dealing with terror related countries... especially those with heavy pro-al-queda links

2. Welfare reform... it's highly needed in some sort of way... there are several ideas floating around on how to make it more effective, but regaurdless, doing something to fix the problem, at least a little, is better than the current problem...

3. Health care... it's in shambles... and costs are ncreasing at a very fast rate... perhaps a government plan focusing on creating

I am watching The Newshour as we speak and they are doing a segment on biased perceptions of the media.

They were just discussing a major gap between republicans and democrats on their view of the 'condition' of the economy. They said that 10-15 years ago, while both disagreed on a solution, at least they agreed on the condition of the economy.

Now they did not state where each stood on the economy but rather that there was a large gap between their opinions of the economic condition.

So, what do you think is the condition of the economy and what is your political affiliation?

PS... My view as a liberal is that the economy is booming ONLY for the most wealthy.. corporations, stock traders, executives, etc... while the working/middle class is hurting. In my state, wages for jobs have decreased while ins. premiums, the cost of living, tuitions and many other basic things have increased. This is not even to mention outsourcing, etc... that is causing the loss of many middle class jobs

After pledging to LEAD the "peace-keeping" force between Israel and Lebanon then subsequently waffling and only promising 200 troops (even Bangladesh has pledged 2000), maybe the next time France is in trouble, we should reciprocate in kind? Pledging 200 to bail out France in the future sounds fair to me. Too many of our boys died over there to bail them out in previous wars when they were unwilling to fight for themselves.
France's latest backout proves they are more willing to appease terrorists than stand with those who have given so much to preserve her sovreignty; all while they snub their noses at us.

When France comes crying because they've been defeated yet again, I'll have little sympathy.

I'm applying for a visa soon to move to UK to marry my fiance. We've been together over 2 years and I've been to UK twice.

We have almost all the paper work, I know we have to prove that we are really geniune and in love.

what would be some of the reasons we would get rejected, and what can I do to prevent it?

Should we prevent Scots from coming to settle in England, then slagging off everything about the country , it's people and our sports teams?
Seriously though is there much point in the Union now we're all part of Europe? It doesn't seem to be very popular with anybody but the English.

"Officials from the UN, the EU and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) are meeting to agree a way to halt the spread in the Mediterranean. Oil spilled into the sea following Israel's bombing of a power station. The slick now covers 170km (105 miles) of Lebanon's coastline and is spreading out to sea. Environmentalists and health officials have warned that the spill poses a direct threat to marine life and could increase the risk of cancer among people living in the affected areas. It could take up to 10 years for the affected coastline to recover, they say."

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER COUNTRIES THAT ARE SHARING TEH MEDITERRANEAN SEE? YOU THINK THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE IDF?

Why are the people in San Diego so "conservative" and why do they toss around the word "liberal" like it is a bad word. The people I know who consider themselfs liberal are very caring about other people's well being, animals and the environment.
