Immigration - February 2007

I have been on maternity leave and have just been accepted for a possition in a supermarket but they have a new policy which is to ask all new employees for proof of ID to work in the UK. I have a passport but it has became out of date last FEB, i am not looking to renew it at the mo because with a young son i wont be travelling for a while and the whole reason i am going back to work is because i really need the money so i dont have the cash to renew it anyway. I have also given my employer my drivers licence, marriage cert and a proof of address. If all of this is refused what else can i use?

We are going back to South Africa on holiday in March and I have heard he only has to enter/depart South Africa with his SA passport. Problems only arise when you use your foreign passport to enter/depart from SA.
Does him having a British passport mean he has British Citizenship? We never sent retention forms off to the SA high commission because he was only receiving a British passport and wasn't being naturalised.

my friend went to the US last 2004, she then divorced her husband in the phils. On 2005, she got married to a US citizen, and never came back to the phils bec. until now she's waiting for her green card. what is her status as of today? and during her waiting period? did she violated any immigration law?

I think the US should make it very easy to obtain a work visa to come to the US with these guidelines:
1. All workers are to pay a set 25% tax rate.
2. They will not be allowed to use our social services.
3. They are not elligible for Social Security benefits.
4. All these regulations can change upon get legal citizenship.
5. Use a database to verify status upon employment and punishing businesses who violate these regulations.
The reason for this is because a large portion of immigrants come here and abuse our system with no intention of becoming citizens and eventually go back to their own country.

Alright, I have a really good friend who lives in the States and wants to move up here into Canada with me. However, all the information I have read has only caused us greater confusion. Is it really as difficult as the websites make it seem?

Any information from personal experience would be wonderful.

As well, am I able to sponsor him to move here? Or can he just move here and then do all the paperwork?

How in God's name did we let this happen? An illegal alien, drug pushing thug can come in here and run over our Border Patrol, and George W. Bush sets up there in the white house and acts like nothing is going on. Now there being beat in prison. OMG
With the stroke of a pen he could get them out of jail, but because he himself has illegals working his farm and his daddys farm he wont. 1--- walks or swim into the country no legal documents nothing.

Do We Blame the government and establishment that brought him here and kept him here despite the fact that he was a criminal gang member.
