Wherever Hispanics live, there's the Mara Salvatrucha, the Mexican Mafia, La Nuestra Familia, The Latin Kings, The Netas, etc. It's impossible to go buy bread in the corner store because these thugs are shouting at each other things in Spanish and shooting randomly.

Because they think it's the "cool" thing to do. Also, it comes from lack of attention from their parents. Their parents are too busy trying to take care of their other, younger, children and have no time for the older ones, therefore, they turn to gangs in order to get attention and feel they are actually part of a "family."

shouldn't your question be "why do people join gangs?". personally i'm hispanic and did grow up in a neighborhood with a lot of gang activity and had a few friends that were in gangs but never joined. and I know a lot of other people who grew up where i did and never joined a gang either. I think your question generalizes too much. every ethnicity has a gang problem. i'm sure if you go to an all asian neighborhood you would find all asian gangs. my best suggestion to you would be if you have such a bad gang problem that you can't go to your coner store then move as soon as possible.

They get in gangs because their parents don't teach them well... and they get influenced by the media we have in this country (movies, tv, music). Since American is "free" it is legal to influence people using media. Hispanics are often in gangs because they live the bad neighborhoods. Same for blacks and some asians.....

The segregation from the American way of life.... they are attacked by racist coments every day... Therefore they end up developing their own racist behavior and way of thinking which is based upon feeling inferior and therefore wanting respect from the US American.... These hispanics are people that came to US when they were little... their parents worked 10 to 17 hours per day in low paying jobs to try to sustain them and make a better life than in Mexico (which they did actually despite of the long hours of labor and the low wages given to them they live better than Mexico... but the kids are left alone, with the daily racist against the illegal aliens, with the fear of being deported, with the fear of segregation.. and like I said they end up with a inferiority feeling that makes them violent, inmoral and disoriented....
I feel sorry for them... I think some people are strong and do not let the reality of the daily racist and segregation mess with their heads... but most fall and become crimminals that were attacked by all this nonsense about illegal immigrants...
The ones strong enough end up helping this country grow and have a richer economy.... Most of them pay taxes by spending their hard earned money... Most of them pay taxes when having the own businesses and even producing jobs for Americans.... and ALL OF THEM are unable to get the benefits Americans think they get... without a VALID SSN it is impossible to get grants for education from the federal government... it is imposible to get health benefits in most of the states, it is imposible to get tax returns they deserve by spending in their daily needs and paying those taxes, and by the taxes they pay by working in the low paying jobs.....

Same reason whites, blacks, chinese, phillipinos, and italians do. Gangs have nothing to do with hispanic people dude. You just live somewhere with many hispanic gangs.
Sorry about your neighborhood, but you shouldnt then there is a relationship between being a certain race and being in a gang.
