Seriously. I just read an editorial about Fred Thompson in which the author goes on and on about how great it is that Fred Thompson is, in the former Senator's words, "just like you".

I don't want a president who is just like me. I'm smart, yes, but I'm not president smart. The economy, the war in Iraq, immigration, bipartisan cooperation, crime, poverty, despair ... who wants an ordinary guy making decisions for these situations?

I appreciate the value of street smarts, but when did every other type of smarts get left out? We don't need an ordinary president; we need an extraordinary one.

Honestly, who wants a president who is just like they are?

We we're founded on a nonpartisan form of government. (ie George Washington curse) I am neither Democrat or Republican, I am simply American.
"They serve to Organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force--to put in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; often a small but artful and enterprizing minority of the Community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public Administration the Mirror of the ill concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the Organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common councils and modefied by mutual interests. However combinations or Associations of the above description may now & then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People, & to usurp for themselves the reins of Government..."

You have to be a "REGISTERED" {with your state} Republican to vote in the "STATE" Primary elections, in most states.

We have to far outnumber the old-line Republican incumbents who agree with current political policy.

Do you sincerely want a change for a Constitutional run type of American government?

Bush's "fine ally"--the dictator of Pakistan, who staged a coup to seize power--just deported the former Prime Minister--who was elected by the people of Pakistan.

This "ally" of bush's is the same one who, last year, sighned an agreement with al-Qaida granting them sanctuary in Pakistan.

This dictator--Bush's ally whom he continues to support and defend, has thus done exactly what the Taliban did--give sanctuary to America's proven enemies.

Yessiree, Bush is such a great supporter of freedom and democracy. Doesn't it just boggle your mind?

I would sincerely like to hear the strategy of those who support Ron Paul.

It is clear that he will not receive the nomination from the Republican Party under any circumstances. Those in the Republican Party do not see him as representing their views, so that is simply not going to happen. Is anyone prodding your candidate to run Independently so your voices will be heard?

Paul's supporters campaign endlessly for him, and kudos to them for standing behind what they believe. But do you see that he has no chance at the nomination or do you still believe the Republicans will suddenly change their basic beliefs enough to look at him as their ideal?

How do you all plan to actually get him elected if you believe in him so strongly? Is there a strategy that reaches beyond the Republican nomination?

Please, I'm not looking for campaign ads. I'm looking to read a realistic summary of the problems he will face on his own, w/o the Republicans and how you all plan to surmount it.

college and people maintain that the system is fair because it allows less populated states to have a voice in government and keeps the more populated states from taking things over. How can that be true if ec votes are based on population? FL still has more electoral votes than WY and is, therefore, still "more important." I've asked this question a thousand times but no one seems to be able to sufficiently answer. I went to a super liberal college so all my professors had to say was "get rid of it," and I tend to agree based on my understanding (which I freely admit could be imperfect) of how it works.

Say the Dem's get the popular vote but lose barely in the electoral count. This would be three times in a row, almost. I almost don't want the Dem's to lose badly, I want them to squirm as the final numbers are tallied and recounted.

Wouldn't that be great?

For example: can anyone tell me a good and logical argument why a State's Electoral College Votes could not be distributed in proportion to the popular vote polled by each candidate in that prticular state.

i.e., if the Republican candiate polled 50%, the Democrat 40% and the Green candidate 10% why could that states ECVs be ditributed in the same proportion ?

Surely such a system would be fairer and more representative. It would also encourage participation as surely the present system acts as a disincentive to vote. For example: if you are a GOP supporter in New York or a Democrat in Utah - whatis the point in voting or the President when you know it will make no real difference.

Do you think it is believable that the Democrat's didn't know about Hsu background given that a $20 internet background check exposed him?? If so what do you think about a party that ignores safety to the point of not doing security checks on the people hanging around their presidential candidates? Would you trust that party with your own security?
Who knew about Hsu?????
