It is a paradoxical situation that India is the greatest living democracy in the world with non-participation in elections by almost half of the 1 billion population. There are more than 910 political parties but only 50+ are eligible to field candidates in elections. It is found that educated people are back-stabbing democracy and are not exercising the voting franchise guaranteed by the Constitution of India. They are shirking their responsibility and the incorrect electoral list (dubbed by the Media as "the mother of all frauds") is being exploited by unscrupulous political parties. Participatory democracy is the only way, VOTE WE MUST to set right the decaying and corrupt democracy. This AIDS (Alarmingly Infected Democratic System) is curable through voting. I appeal to all Indians to take the challenge and be the change they want to see. Chak De VOTE INDIA. Local bodies elections are being held. Karnataka, India should show to the world what our votes can do.

From Yahoo News -

"The candidates are walking a fine line. They are trying to tap into the deep discontent those voters feel about the state of the country without alienating any who hold Bush in high regard. At the same time, they have to counter the Democrats' powerful arguments for a new direction.

How candidates handle the 800-pound elephant in the room now could have implications beyond the primary. Privately, Republican strategists agree their nominee will lose next fall if the general election is a referendum on Bush. They say GOP candidates are wise to distance themselves from the president now, given his unpopularity among the public at large.

Bush holds the opposite view.

Asked last week whether he is an asset or a liability for Republican candidates, Bush replied: "Strong asset."

Say, if public healthcare costs $8,000 per person per year (and that's cheap), would you be willing to have $8,000 divided by 12 months = $666.66 deducted from your monthly income?

Remember, nothing is free. All Hillary is promising is to force you to pay for something government will control and ration. And for those of you who get your healthcare through your private jobs, do NOT think for an instance that when government forces you to pay for your own, that your employer will give you the money they are currently spending on your healthcare; this will NOT trickle down.

(And that number has lots of 6's in it, not just because of the math, but because of the nature of the individuals trying to force this upon us.)

I don't really understand what this means.

amendments to the Constitution could be proposed in either of two ways-- by a new constitutional convention REQUESTED BY 2/3 OF THE STATES or by a TWO-THIRDS vote of both houses of Congress.

Could someone explain the bold? thanks, i appreciate it!

Only in the US, no other country in the world but ours, allows trial lawyers to create frivolous law suits and not be accountable to compensate the defendant, if they lose the case. How can anyone who truly wants health care reform, support these cretins who prey upon tragedy for their own personal gain? They fill our courts with frivolous suits, they cause medical providers to carry HUGE insurance, force patients to have needless procedures and operations; they force medical givers to shut down or move because juries throw "lottery winning" awards, at these con artists. Insurance and drug industry attributes a great deal of their costs, to defend against these cretins. What a hypocite you are if you support trial lawyers and rail about health care costs! To most, we see you as practicing a staregy to break the backs of our economy, to replace our way of life with socialism and communism.

Possibly Hillary's message in her "It Takes a Village (not a family)" , she will be regarded as a pioneer for "one governemnt for the world". Possibly liberals are ready to come out of the closet and say the "s" word? ; their counterparts in Italy and France call their democratic party, the socailist party, but our socialists can't even publicly acknowledge the word "socialist'.

NO WAY! These are HONEST Politicians and will not drag up any dirt on the Labor Party. And Pigs will Fly. Toney Boney Abbott has already started his pick, picking attack on Labor.
" We will not be digging up any dirt on them, Never ." We are trying to bury them." He said under his breath. "You can't break down a brick wall with a toothpick, but we will try with John's forward thinking for Australia. That will get us elected again. Kevin Rudd could not respond to the request as He is still trying to pick himself off the floor. Maybe it is his heart valve playing up. Or maybe he can't stop laughing at Howards Policies.

All I see is HILLARY and GULIANNI ! What about Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee, Joe Biden. I think any of these 3 are far more superior to the American Way then the showdown that the media wants. People need to research candidates and quit beleiving those stupid polls that are put out. I work in a union enviroment and NOBODY like's Hillary. I am a conservative and I don't like Gulianni. Personally I can't find anyony who actually likes either one, if they did their homework.

As a small time investor & developer, what would Labour do to encourage more private small scale residential developments to help ease the rental & ownership crisis ? ALP have always had a "battler" image, dangerously they seem to reward complacency and punish the self motivated. They lost many voters who grew up in ALP households because they had the drive to make a change. Labour will hurt the small time joint venture developers, thus hurting renters and first home buyers ! They just "cant see the writing on the wall".
