Jury duty summons came in the mail for my husband, who is a chiropractor. He is self employed and would have to close his business to go, and his patients would be off their treatment plans. What is good way to get out of jury duty? This wouldn't just affect his income, but also the health of his patients because it's important not to miss appointments. This is what I plan to tell them, but would like a back up reason just in case.

Serious answers please, he cannot commit a felony or act prejudiced or act like he is crazy. The form doesn't even ask form much personal information, just medical history and religious affiliations, both optional.

Do you think that the reason America is unable to solve any of its greatest problems today is because of the lack of citizen participation? Did those of us who are in our 20's,30's and 40's grew up with to much of a "silver spoon" so that we are unable or unwilling to stand up to our govt. on issues that acctually matter(the war, health care, enviroment, employment).... We missed out on the greatest debates and changes in our countries recent history ie. civil rights, womens lib, vietnam.. because we were either children or unborn.... so has the lack of confrontation with our govt through out our lives left us stagnent in the way we deal with it? thoughts?

I think polygamy may partly address the female infantacide in India and some other countries. Also modern man is mostly monogamous. This has adversely affected natural selection in human species. It has drastically curtailed differential fertility by restricting the male to produce children only from one woman, his wife. (Differential survival and differential fertility are the two mechanisms for progressive evolution by which genotypes which are more suited to a given environment will increase in relative frequency over the generations). Had it been not so, the most dominant man would have, and that is his natural tendency, produced more children in a number of women. So monogamy while giving social security to the fair sex has caused incalculable harm to the process of natural selection.

ok, the whole thing with Imus is unbelieve. but my question is...

is society made because Imus called them hos or are they made that it came from a white man?

Rappers say it all the time in their lyrics and for some reason, that's OK with society. The public buys their albums and helps promotes it. And that's ok. But here comes Imus, a WHITE man, and all of a sudden it's wrong.

Double Standard or Racist???

You decide!!

People are always complaining about people that can vote but do not......I take another position. I thing it is completely irresponsible to vote unless you have some awareness of the issues and where candidates stand......

Voting for the sake of voting is totally irresponsible........

It all boils down to being an INFORMED voter...

who build huge mansions in resort areas have raised the property values so much that those who are working in the emergency services (fire, ambulance, etc) can no longer live in the area so the response time for those services is half an hour or more. And of course those same rich people do not want to pay to have permanent employees.

I have been a Sprint customer for almost a year, and have had problems with them for just as long. I ordered 1 phone and they sent me 2 additional phones w/2 additional bills, and when I wouldn't pay, they sent the 2 accounts to a collection agency, to ruin my credit! Luckily they realized their mistake and that problem has been cleared up. But now, I am currently living in Syracuse, NY (since August, in grad school) and my phone doesn't get reception. Every call I make is a dropped call, so they give me $10 credit per month. I can hardly use my phone indoors or outdoors, yet I have to pay $80 a month for a service asked for, which isn't being provided. When I enter my zip code on their website, it says my area has excellent coverage, which is a lie!! Can a pro-bono lawyer please help me???

Of course, of course, many of you still believe in official statements from the White House, Exxon and other appeasers that there is no such thing like global warming, and if there were something like that (of course, not) it is definitely not man-made... and if it were man-made it was just the Chinese, not us... (so, shut up, you tree-huggers and let me drive my SUV...)

Okay, some people also believe that the earth is flat and evolution was just another attempted deception of Al Gore...

But for all of you who think there might be something in it, did you already change something in your life?
