My husband and I have a two year old little girl, and we are getting our wills done soon to ensure her safety should something happen to us. We have decided on a guardian for her, my best friend. However, our families are outraged at this and would probably try to wrest custody of our daughter from our chosen guardian should we die. Would establishing her as Godmother make her legal rights to our daughter more valid, since she is not a blood relative? If so, How would we go about it?

If a GOP candidate sought votes from a white group calling itself the "National Council of the Race," he'd rightly be shunned as a racist. But let Democrats do the same and they're called "progressive." The difference, of course, is that in the latter case both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were appearing before the National Council of La Raza ("The Race"), a radical Latino group. Trolling for votes, Obama pandered to La Raza's convention in Miami over the weekend, selling himself as one who marched alongside Latinos at last May 1's illegal immigrant amnesty rallies. Clinton, by contrast, insisted she was "at home" among the La Raza crowd, having hired a top La Raza official, Raul Yzaguirre, as her national co-chair. . . .

The irony is that La Raza is no ordinary organization. . . The organization has been around since the 1960s, with many name changes. . . La Raza is not only the loudest proponent of illegal immigration in the U.S. It fosters ethnic separatism in schools. It runs Hugo Chavez-type handouts for indigents and has ties it refuses to renounce to fringe groups like MEChA, whose own slogan is derived from the rhetoric of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro: "Through the race, everything; outside the race, nothing." Today's La Raza is a $52 million not-for-profit group that lives off congressional earmarks, shakes down big corporations like WalMart and Bank of America . . . for financial support, and has made illegal immigration and ethnic separatism its leading agenda. . . . What matters to La Raza is amnesty for illegals, if not through the Senate, then through the 1960s tactic of silencing opponents by smearing them as racist.

. . . Obama stood out as the most willing race-baiter, his Chicago activist experience coming in handy. He denounced immigration bill foes as "both ugly and racist in a way we haven't seen since the struggle for civil rights." It's pure charlatan logic. The illegal immigration issue is about whether to reward foreign invaders who've broken the law, just because there are 13 million of them. Obama should know that there are also 300 million other Americans of every skin color and ethnicity -- including Latinos -- who oppose amnesty and resent efforts to intimidate them through charges of racism. Americans have already shown they won't be intimidated. They believe in the rule of law .

My husband is trying to adopt my daughter. Her biological father (my ex) has already relinquished his rights. But we are in the US and my daughter is in India. We are being told by the social worker that my daughter has to be present in the US for the adoption to be granted. We are unable to get a tourist visa for her because the consulate fears that she will be immigrating to the US (which is true). My husband being a US citizen could apply for her Green card if he could adopt her. But we have to have her here in order for that to happen. Is there any way to get out of this "catch 22" situation?

Is there a middle ground on this issue? I can understand that we live in a progressive era, and I can certainly understand that we want all people to be treated equally under the law. However, at the same time I do want to live far away from child molesters, strip clubs, and places where prostitution takes place. I also really don't want to have to explain what a drag queen or a transsexual is to my child until they are grown-up enough to understand. I'm not even sure I understand.

I admit that I just don't get it, and maybe it's a failing. I am not motivated by hatred, nor do I wish to enforce my views on the entire world, but would it be wrong for me and others like me to simply live in communities which have decency laws, and those who are more accepting of every kind of behavior to live in more liberal communities?

Perhaps we could tolerate other points of view if they weren't forced on us. How about letting states decide these things so that all viewpoints are welcome?

POTUS G W said recently ".. Osama bin Laden. He's proclaimed that the "third world war is raging in Iraq." Osama bin Laden says, "The war is for you or for us to win. If we win it, it means your defeat and disgrace forever." I say that there will be a big defeat in Iraq and it will be the defeat of al Qaeda. "

"Today I will consider the arguments of those who say that al Qaeda and al Qaeda in Iraq are separate entities. I will explain why they are both part of the same terrorist network — and why they are dangerous to our country. "

"A good place to start is with some basic facts: Al Qaeda in Iraq was founded by a Jordanian terrorist, not an Iraqi. His name was Abu Musab al Zarqawi. Before 9/11, he ran a terrorist camp in Afghanistan. He was not yet a member of al Qaida, but our intelligence community reports that he had longstanding relations with senior al Qaida leaders, that he had met with Osama bin Laden and his chief deputy, Zawahiri." (GW Bush 24 Jul 2007)

"A key lesson of September the 11th is that the best way to protect America is to go on the offense, to fight the terrorists overseas so we don't have to face them here at home. And that is exactly what our men and women in uniform are doing across the world. "

"The key theater in this global war is Iraq. Our troops are serving bravely in that country. They're opposing ruthless enemies, and no enemy is more ruthless in Iraq than al Qaeda. They send suicide bombers into crowded markets; they behead innocent captives and they murder American troops. They want to bring down Iraq's democracy so they can use that nation as a terrorist safe haven for attacks against our country. So our troops are standing strong with nearly 12 million Iraqis who voted for a future of peace, and they so for the security of Iraq and the safety of American citizens."

Warrantless Wiretapping

The Supreme Court has recognized that electronic surveillance, such as wiretapping and eavesdropping, impinges on the privacy rights of individuals and organizations and is therefore subject to the Fourth Amendment's warrant clause. [65] President Clinton, however, has asked Congress to pass legislation that would give the Federal Bureau of Investigation the power to use "roving wiretaps" without a court order. [66] The president also fought for sweeping legislation that is forcing the telephone industry to make its network more easily accessible to law enforcement wiretaps. Those initiatives have led ACLU officials to describe the Clinton White House as "the most wiretap-friendly administration in history." [67]

It is unclear why the president made warrantless roving wiretaps a priority matter since judges routinely approve wiretap applications by federal prosecutors. According to a 1995 report by the Administrative Office of U.S. Courts, it had been years since a federal district court turned down a prosecutor's request for a wiretap order. [68] President Clinton is apparently seeking to free his administration from any potential judicial interference with its wiretapping plans. There is a problem, of course, with the power that the president desires: it is precisely the sort of unchecked power that the Fourth Amendment's warrant clause was designed to curb. As the Supreme Court noted in Katz v. United States (1967), the judicial procedure of antecedent justification before a neutral magistrate is a "constitutional precondition," not only to the search of a home, but also to eavesdropping on private conversations within the home. [69]

President Clinton also lobbied for and signed the Orwellian Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, which is forcing every telephone company in America to retrofit its phone lines and networks so that they will be more accessible to police wiretaps. [70] The cost of that makeover is expected to be several billion dollars. Any communications carrier that fails to meet the technology standards of the attorney general can be fined up to $10,000 per day. The passage of that law prompted Attorney General Reno to marvel at her newly acquired power: "I don't think J. Edgar Hoover would contemplate what we can do today." [71] That is unfortunately true. In the past, law enforcement had to rely on the goodwill and voluntary cooperation of the American people for investigative assistance. That tradition is giving way to a regime of coercive mandates. [72]

I mean seriously or are they just against people who make some money without having to work for it? How is this different than people on public assistance (getting money w/o earning it?) Like my grandmother who has been investing for the past 44 years (strictly buy and hold) and today she gets close to 26K in dividends each year.....YET she has never made more than 50K (earned income) in one year. That just goes to show you that long periods of time (30+ years) will do wonders for most people in the markets. Unfortunately 62% of Americans cash out their 401ks on every job switch so they will never see those benefits of long term steady investing!!!! Not to mention we are a society obsessed with the short-term (both socially and financiallY) which probably explains why 62% of people cash out their retirement savings everytime they switch jobs.

Why do people on the left hate the stock market?

Here are 6 reasons why I'm against illegal immigration in to the United States.
1.It's illegal. How can any responsible citizen support something that has the word illegal in it?
2.Illegal immigrants are responsible for more crime then native born Americans.
3.Some of the illegal immigrants are members of violent street gangs like MS-13 from Central America.
4.I think that the pro-illeagl immigrant side & groups that support illegal immigration like MEChA & La Raza are also anti-White.I believe they want as many Hispanic immigrants as possible to come to the U.S. So they can take social & political power a way from the White majority.
5.A lot of the illegal immigrants don't want to become Americans & don't want to assimilate. They just want the American money. They are usually proud Mexican nationals who just live in America, but don't care about our laws or traditions
6.It isn't immigration. It's an invaion. When millions of people all from the same culture & part of the world(Mexico & Central America)all go to the same country(United States)at the same time, that sounds like an invasion to me.
