700 dollars is not a huge amount of money. even if you start to pay off a little it will look good on you. have you got some sort of physical problem that you can't work day labor or work in a fast food place?

It depends on the "crime", the reason you cant get a job, the judge, the prosecutor, and the victim. All these will work together to determine what will happen.
Unfortunately if you have no way of paying the fines, you will probably be sent to jail. The upside to that is most jails give you $100 for each day served, and if you get on the work crew its $200 a day, so 3.5 to 7 days you can be released.

Much depends on the charges and where you reside; however, most of the times the Judge is not all that understanding and will send you to jail AND you will still have to pay the fine when you get out or go back to jail if not paid in a certain period of time.

You might qualify for "work release." If you don't have a job, the probation office will help you find a job. You can work during the day and go to jail after work to spend the night.

be honest with the judge. He probly won't buy that you cannot get a job. Maybe you could offer to do community service or suggest that he find you a work program. good luck next time stay out of trouble.

Every judge I have seen will order you to pay $20 a week until it is paid off.
