Women and Children Left Behind Under Bush's 2001 Tax Plan
According to The National Women's Law Center, 17 million women would receive no tax cut under Bush's plan. Three million families headed by women with children have an income below the federal poverty rate. This large group would receive no benefit from the tax plan. Thirty-six percent of all single mothers would receive no tax benefit, and nearly half of all African-American and Hispanic single mothers would not benefit from Bush's tax cut.
Bush tried to repeal the corporate Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). Had he been successful in repealing the AMT, corporations would have received the following retroactive tax breaks:

$1 billion to Ford
$254 million to Enron
$833 million to General Motors
$241 million to Phillips Petroleum

The fresh food industry discards tons of edible food each day. Yet I feel there are places so remote in this world that we forget about them and they do not have access to food. On the same line can E-waste be somehow recycled to make building material for homes? We have so much...how can we find ways to utilize it all so we can reach out to those in the world less fortunate than ourselves. There is always someone who is less fortunate...like the kids with no shoes are unfortunate but less so than the kids who have no legs. Somewhere deep down inside we all insulate ourselves from those realities and like to pretend that someone is taking care of those people but what if that someone is you?! Lets all dream tonite about a better world and simply holding that thought in your heart and mind gives it power to become real. So if you can do just one thing then please hold the space for a thought of a better world, less hunger, more connection to ourselves and ultimately the whole world

I am running for Mayor of the town I live in and I turn 18 on september 4th. Elections are the 7th of November. Anyway if someone my age is running locally in your area would you give them your support and vote? I keep reading on Yahoo Answers that Republicans are mostly "upper" middle class or rich. Election maps show that the rural counties in America voted overwhelmingly republican. That is not where the rich and upper middle class people live. I live in a poor rural county and it votes Republican in every election. It appears to me that it is Blue Collar America that keeps voting for the Republicans, yet the perception (or accusation) that it is the extremely wealthy. Why do the Democrats or Liberals persist in the belief that it is the rich? It appears to me that from what I can find the rich people in America split between Rep and Dem's. Please also before you rant at me, I am an independent that split my vote in the last election
