I keep reading on Yahoo Answers that Republicans are mostly "upper" middle class or rich. Election maps show that the rural counties in America voted overwhelmingly republican. That is not where the rich and upper middle class people live. I live in a poor rural county and it votes Republican in every election. It appears to me that it is Blue Collar America that keeps voting for the Republicans, yet the perception (or accusation) that it is the extremely wealthy. Why do the Democrats or Liberals persist in the belief that it is the rich? It appears to me that from what I can find the rich people in America split between Rep and Dem's. Please also before you rant at me, I am an independent that split my vote in the last election

I am a Conservative middle class American female 49 yrs old, blond hair and green eyes.I live in the middle of the country. The Dem's stereotype of us is out of ignorance.I defiantly don't fit into their profile.I choose to think for myself pay attention to what is really going on. I do my research.I refuse to be a cool-aid drinker and all you really have to do to make a decision on who to vote for is to vote for integrity, decisiveness and a strong sense of morality. The Dem's prey on peoples ignorance... Liberals including Kerry and most of Hollywood have a lot more money than Republicans.
The Democrats want to think they are the party of the "people" but they want to take all the regular peoples' money away in taxes.
They think if they keep telling people that all Republicans are rich people who want to keep all their money the people will be sheep enough to vote for them and then they can control them through legislation and taxation, that's what they always do.
I am mostly Republican and I certainly am not rich.
Where I used to live in upstate NY it was Rebublican and NY state would go democrat because of all the city people while the people upstate were not really represented. That is how Hillary won.
Here in AZ, it was much more republican before so many people from CA moved in.

That's right. Republicans are and represent the rich. That's why the movie stars and musicians (and all their money) are always campaigning for them and speaking out against the Democrats.

Wait. That's not how it happens at all, is is. Rich Hollywood types are all Democrats. They claim they are going to move to Canada if G. Bush gets elected, by then just stick around and ***** about it.

The truth is, there are rich Republicans, and there are poor republicans. There are rich Democrats, and there are poor Democrats. The Democrats just spend more time accusing the Republicans of pandering to stererotypes.

I'm republican and I'm not rich! I don't understand why everybody says that...it's just crap. My mom is die hard democrat...you're right, a lot of Blue Collar Americans are voting for the Republicans because they know who is actually on their side. To me, Liberals and Democrats are just a bunch of dead heads that need to get there head out of their butt and smell sometehing a little nicer!

I live in the poorest county in my state. My state was won by democrats in last election (presidential)

Anyway, most people I knew that were voting republican, were basing their decision on basically these things.

1--Don't change presidents during a war, stick with the leader you have.
2--A fear of Homo-sexuals getting laws changed about marriage, because it isn't Christian.
3--IF YOU CAN BELEIVE THIS ONE---So gas prices will go down, and America will become independent of foreign oil.

Working people are Republicans. They make their own money and don't want to give it away.

People who want to be give things or feel guilty for their success are Democrats.

It sounds good to Democrats to blame the rich for the problems of the world. To them anyone who works for a living is rich.

Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Gay, Straight, Bi, White, Black, etc. are all means for people to try to identify with or against. I say break the chains of hate. Love everyone. Think free of others, and be truly independant.

that's because rural areas tend to be more conservative than urban areas and the republicans are more conservative than the democrats. however the MEMBERS of the republican party are upper middle class rich people.
