- Age 19
- Live about 600 miles away from family -- my choice
- No financial support whatsover
- rare contact (spoken or physical) with family
- been in this state for a year, gone to college here during that time
- No bills on my name
- No licence/state ID

I want to be seen as a independent student so that I can fill out the Fafsa without my parents being involved, file my tax return as an independent. If I wait for my parents to sign the paperwork for me, it takes forever and I miss deadlines.

I also want to be seen as a in-state student so I can afford to go to back to school.

How can I prove that I am independent from my family?

If you need additional details, contact me and I will add the details.
Thank you,
~ Yumi

P.s.: I can't join the military and getting married sounds unlikely.
(And no, I didn't want to do those just to be seen as independent.)

Also, please don't bother telling me to look for scholarships/grants, I do so already.

I think I remember from school that the Americans had to resort to guerilla tactics against the much stronger, richer, and more technically advanced British. Why are we so angry now that modern day insurgents are resorting to the same tactics in lands we are occupying?

I am 28, I have always worked BUT I have a very big issue with people who are not willing to work (regardless of nationality/colour/religion) but wish to complain about the small benefits they receive out of tax payers money.

I also have an issue with immigrants who do not need to seek asylum yet (thank you tony blair) see the UK as an easy ride.
In the UK we have old age pensioners who have worked hard and are now struggling and many homeless people - yet immigrants regardless of status seem to get housed prior to nationals.

I don't care what colour someone is BUT if someone is capable of working but prefers or chooses to sit at home claiming benefits I would like to see their benefits stopped completely.

What do you think?

This particular forum is nothing but hatred. What I don't get is people who say the illegal immigration issue is not a racial thing and then go on by saying let's send them back to Mexico. Well that is racial because although a majority are mexican, not all illegals are Mexican. These people also say that Mexicans are demandin things from our government, well I'm of Mexican heritage but born in the United States, but i've never gone to city hall and said hey give me free shi-t. Some extreme haters say really nasty things, then most everyone says you give white's a bad name, you don't speak for all of us. Ok take the same concept there and apply it to illegals and mexicans, whatever a group says, they aren't speaking for me, so stop with the hatred and focus. Is that so hard?

Ok a cop is giving a motorist a ticket, now down the street there is 3 people that are drunk getting in a car. The cop sees the 3 people. Should the cop continue giving the ticket, or go after the 3 people getting in the car? And if he doesn't go after the 3 people what disiplinary action should be taken against the police officer....???

An attack on a hospital, the killing of an entire Lebanese family, the seizure of five men in Baalbek and a new civilian death toll - 468 men, women and children - marked the 22nd day of Israel's latest war on Lebanon.

The Israelis claimed that helicopter-borne soldiers had seized senior Hizbollah leaders although one of them turned out to be a local Baalbek grocer. In a village near the city, Israeli air strikes killed the local mayor's son and brother and five children in their family.

The battle for Lebanon was fast moving out of control last night. Lebanese troops abandoned many of their checkpoints and European diplomats were warning their colleagues that militiamen were taking over the positions. Up to 8,000 Israeli troops were reported to have crossed the border by last night in what was publicised as a military advance towards the Litani river. But far more soldiers would be needed to secure so large an area of southern Lebanon.

I'm not a Liberal but I do find it alarmingly silly when ultra conservatives resort to calling Liberals Nazis. Was this ploy conceived by Rove? How does it work? You call someone else what you actually are and take the focus off yourself? Are we letting these types of lies work?

So the price of orange juice is rising, due to a decrease in immigrant workers in Florida. Nearly 1/3 of the oranges have gone unpicked for the season. Would YOU leave your country to pick oranges for minimum wage? What say you to this?

Whenever I tell my republican friends that had Gore been president, 9/11 may have been prevented, they laugh and say "How? Would he have flown there and grabbed the planes with his hands?

Sarcasm aside, why do they believe it was inevitable?

Had Gore been president, I have no doubt he would've met face to face with his Anti Terrorism Expert, who tried for 9 months to warn Bush of Al Qaeda's plan to hijack planes. Or would he have played hide & seek and gone on vacation like Bush did?

After the meetings, I have no doubt that the airliners would've been warned and told to re-enforce their doors. Remember these terrorists just broke down the weak cockpit doors without much effort. And possibly air marshals might've been instituted. The airport security would most certainly have been hightened.

Since FBI already had files on these hijackers and even knew that some of them attended flying schools, they may have put surveillance on them 24/7.

The first thing i would do is ban public smoking. Everywhere. A lot of places like restaurants are doing it now, but i'm talking about, like, no smoking outside on the streets or anything either. Thats what they should do cuz smoking can affect non smokers as much as smokers. And if i could i would make smoking totally illegal. And cigarettes would be gone for good.
