About six months ago, Gino's, the famous philadelphia cheesesteak shop, put up a sign that said "This is America, when ordering, please speak English." Recently, people have been saying that it can be offensive. I don't get it. I'm not trying to be ignorant here, but would anyone actually be offended by that sign? The people that work there only speak English, it seems pretty practical to ask people to order in English. (btw: I realize that it doesn't make sense, the sign is in English so anyone who would be ordering in another language wouldn't understand it.)

I gave him a nice watch for his E-4 promotion. I know I've got to go bigger, but I don't have a clue.

I am legal resident in the USA (green card) and I have received a ton of letters to support environmental and political campaigns. Theses letters request to sign p a petition to senators or goverment authorities. Can I, as legal alien, sign u these support letters? Can I get in trouble if I sign these letters if I am not a citizen?

Who's the top contender if it isn't Hillary for 2008 on the Dems side?

Honestly, was it just a reaction to Hillary? Do you honestly want Condi as Prez? What qualifies her to hold the highest office in the land? There just seems to be so many other Republicans that would be much better presidents.

Someone please tell me they don't believe the crap that comes out of the mouths of Coulter, Franken, O'Reilly, Morrer, Hannity and all the others. They are all so patently wrong as to be lying outright all in the name of senseless argument. Anyone out there really BELIEVE their garbage?

I am interested in books/novels/memoirs written by ONLY ex-military servicemen and women, for my own public enlightenment...even if you choose to email me confidentially @ combs.mandy @ gmail.com... of course this may be spied upon, so BEWARE! However, I could give a $hit less. Yet, upon my word as an ex-army service woman no names will EVER be released by me. As you know, "my word and guarantee"
are more dense than DU!

Obviously the WMD line was a bunch of BS. But what's the real policy driving our being there? My only theory is that it's a two-fer:

1) It is a warning to other nations that if we even think you're up to a terrorist action - you're little fifedom is toast.

2) Stablize the oil markets by keeping the taps flowing in Iraq.

You could never come out and honestly say "We're going to make an example of Iraq". As bad as the international fallout has been as is - if we had said that and then done what we've done it would be even worse? Thoughts?

I have tried on three different occasions to croos the border into Canada, and all three times, turned away. The first time was in 1986 in INternational Falls, Mn. I was in a traveling band and we were performing there in Internatiopnal Falls, and we decided to go across the border. After Canadian customs detained us, searched our car, searched our clothes, they refused to let us enter, with no explaination. The second time was in 1988, same place, same result. The third time, and the worste, was in 2000. I was driveing a truck and had to make a deliveryin a small town in Canada. I was to make the crossing in Detroit. They searched me, my truck, brought out the sniffer dog, then arrested me for suspicion. I was read my rights, escorted to a cell, and detained for 2 hours. Then they let me go, but again denied entry without any expaination. Can someone explain this to me? Keep in mind I have absolutely NO criminal history.
