So we have know for years that Mexicans were entering illegally in the U.S., so why are we now concerned?

I live in the Southwest and it has been an issue here for as long as I can remember. The problem has become so enormous that the nation is waking to the problem. We wonder whats taken you so long?

The people who are saying it is political propoganda or a distarction for the ar are morons...the problem has been here for years yes and no one could justify the spending until after 9/11, when there were terrorist living among us for years and eventually killed 2000+ people...everyone just think that it doesnt effect them, it is only the border states..but everyone sees illegals, most people realize half teh construction labor forces are illegal and driving the wages so far down that a guy cant afford to work and raise a family in those jobs anymore.

Just yesterday the Railroad killer was executed in Texas, this guy came accross illegally all the time would jump on the trains, go to towns and kill, 15 known murders. how would you like your family member or friend killed by an illegal, then they return to Mexico and never get caught, how would you like your job given to someone b/c they will except $2/hour b/c it is more than they would make in Mexico..they dont pat taxes on it, and they send it to their family in Mexico so it doesnt even help our economy...you need to visit some of these border towns and see how many unemployed citizens are here....9000 Agents have arrested 6 million people since 2000...that means agents wind up working 14-16 hour days, how is that for quality time with their family..we are finally getting home at night with the new help on the border...

This is not new. Check out history. From the late 1800's on. If we adopted the same rules for illegals that Mexico has we would be considered mean conservatives.

The "slave labor" thing was gone 20 yr.s ago. Farms in NM and TX even bring REAL guest workers from S. Africa to work for 3 mo.s and go home. Most of the Managers that hire them are American-Mexicans and say that the Mexicans they can hire (for good wages) always have reasons why they can't show up or work on the equipment. This is not new, it is just that the rest of you are finding out what it is like to try and buy mild at the store and be looked down upon for not speaking the Mexican's way.

America has finally gotten to it's breaking point. Here in Arizona illegal immigration has been a problem for as long as i can remember. In the last few years the numbers of illegals have doubled and this is why the nation is waking to see the problem. Not to mention the "demonstrations" the disrespect for the American flag, etc..etc. It is not just Mexicans that are the problem it is all illegals you pick the country of origin and i would bet there are illegals from that country here. The timing of America's response to this crisis is not really the issue, the fact that there are illegals in America and (although some may justify their illegal entry) they need to be dealt with.

Because the population of LA and CA has doubled and none of them speak Engrish. We have billingual education that doesn't work any better than an Engrish education (do they teach us in Engrish at the University of Mexico City, I think not!), you can't get a job in LA unless you speak Spanish. They want to sing the National Athem in Spanish. They want all TV shows with translations in Spanish. In Los Angeles English is number 22 on the list of numbers you hear on the phone recording. If you want this in Spanish, press 1, in Vietnamse, press 2, in Arabic, press 3, In Armenian Press 4, in Persian PRess 5, In Japanese PRess 6, In Cantonise PRess 7....

You don't know what you're missing until they buy a six pack at the store and then whizz on your door step. Some actually come and rang our bell and asked to use our bathroom!

PArents have their 5 year old kids pull down their pants and whizz on the grass in front of City Hall.

The gang members charge old women $5 to let them walk to their door safely.

Drive by shootings are a way of life now in LA. Before I left we heard two outside a week.

When I moved to the Valley in 1965 there were two murder a year. Today there are two a day and 98% of them involve a MExican. That is a verifyable statistic, except 98% of the valley is now Mexican.

Many of them are good, but the bad ones make life really bad. You wear the wrong color pants on the wrong street and they will blow your head off and ask questions later.

You got to a supermarket and everyone in front of you has WIC coupons and never buys the right thing so you wait while they go exchange their Hi C for Orange Juice and their Velveta for real Cheese.

A friend of mine was in Guatamala and all the people said they wanted to come to america for the FREE MONEY.

In 20 years half of America will be Hispanic and they don't blacks very much, nor do they like orientals.

They don't like Whites very much, either.

Go to LA and rent an apartment in North Hollywood and try it for six months, if you live that long.

I don't like considering myself a racist, but I have to be a realist. LA became the Bronx in 25 years. All the white people, all the Jewish people and many of the blacks moved out. They couldn't deal with it.

There are almost no more blacks in Watts nor in Compton.

These people are not the same as the ones int he city of San Fernando, who have lived there for 100+ years. They don't even like these people. They have bars on their windows now.

Movie stars on the hill have bars on their windows.

On New Years day in Dog Town (Lincoln Heights) you hear nothing but automatic weapons fire as they shoot off their AK47s.

Because President Bush and the current administration are trying to distract U.S. citizens from the faulty war strategy and from the failure of Homeland Security. As well as the many other issues, such as tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%, and the total lack of disaster preparedness nation wide.

Why should they be allowed to come into our country illegally, and then be granted Amnesty as a "guest worker" and gain legal staus and get social security benefits, not only for themselves but the rest of their illegal family!!! So in about 30 years or so when there is no more social security maybe then you won't ask such a dumb question.

first of all, we dont only get mexicans. we get central americans, and ppl all over the world who are juss trying to make a better future.
why we are now concerned is because of the shortage in jobs and the increasing u.s population as well as the increasing u.s debts, but i dont see why since immigrants pretty much work as slaves, yet it also increases no jobs. o.o...

As "lucky2bealive" said here. I think the illegal immigrants have started spreading out more and more so that they are no longer just mostly situated in the border states and so other Americans are feeling the ill effects in their towns and states now.
