I have a phobia of spiders...

...There is a big black spider in my bath...

...If I put my fancy rat in there (no water) would she eat the spider?

That would be handy, and it'd be nice snack for the rat.

This problem is driving me crazy. I have got mouse traps down (which varies from peanut butter, choc, and jam in them), poison, bay leaves, bicarb, and peppermint on the floor to try to deter them, but I've still got droppings most mornings. I empty my rubbish daily and sweep the floor. I am immaculate, and can't understand why we keep getting them. Can someone please help, before I've got to be put on antidepressants.

In the winter oranges are kind of difficult to find where I go to college(I'm in the mountains with tons of snow and ice so trucks don't like to come up here), but my guinea pig loves veggies and gets a huge amount every day and he REALLY loves his oranges. I adopted him only 2 months ago so I've never had him for a winter. I have heard that red bell peppers have TONS of Vitamin C but he doesn't like them, or any bell peppers for that matter. I dont want him not get as much Vitamin C when oranges run out but what can I do, especially since he was really sick because of the lack of Vit. C when I adopted him.

Every day he gets tons of romaine lettuce, oranges, apples, grapes, cucumbers, baby carrots, dried cranberries(he is getting over a bladder infection) and other veggies.

Also, am I giving him too much veggies?

I cannot not stand him at this point!!! i have done so much research and everytime i tell him something positive about a gerbil he comes back with a lie ... ex. Me, "Gerbils rarely bite." and he comes back with, dad, "yes they do, they bite all the time because they are just rodents. only a smaller rat." he is driving me crazy!!! will you help me to convince my dad that gerbils are a nice pet and i'm responsible enough to take care of it.

My daughter has kept rats as pets for years. Now that she is pregnant her OBGYN tells her that she has to give them up because handling rodents can cause birth defects. Does anyone know what the facts are about this?

My guinea pig got switched to another brand of food. This food has sunflower seeds and I don't like it. I've been taking off the shells and giving her the inside, but should I remove them altogether? Also, what's a good brand of guinea pig food? I like foods that have little tidbits in them, and Brownie doesn't really like plain pellets. She needs to have a little variety in her food! Most guinea pig foods seem to have a lot of artificial coloring and it's hard to find a good brand.

I am currently thinking of purchasing a hamster right now. Below are my following questions about hamsters and hamster care (try to answer as much as possible):

1) What cage should I get a hamster: the metal bar ones or the plastic ones?
2) What type/species of hamster is the best and easiest to care for?
3) Where can I find pet stores in Calgary?
4) How frequent should you change the bedding?
5) Is using regular paper (ie. office paper) ok for hamsters as a bedding?
6) Does the hamster cage stink if you change it regularily?
7) How much do hamsters cost?

We took my guinea pig into the vet a few months ago, to give him a check up. The vet said that his coat wasn't shiny enough, and, needs some vitamin c. She said that feeding him an orange slice once a day, would be great! We tried that, and, it turns out, my guinea pig doesn't like orange slices!!!! I know that giving a guinea pig vitamin c drops in the water, IS NOT GOOD FOR THEM!!!! What else can I do???? His coat is very coarse, and, I NEED ANSWERS!!!! Whoever has the best answer, will get, 10 POINTS!!!! Thanks,

do you think it is cruel to feed live mice/rats to reptiles.....

please look past the fact that what is their "purpose" since that is meerly the purpose we have only given them, when they are fully consious creatures with their own will to live- being able to think like us or not. also please look past the "circle of life" thing, also... i was just wondering since my snake refuses to eat dead mice and so i must feed him live mice..... its not like i can make him a vegetarian or anything, but i can't help but think about the mouse's well being along with my snake's since i love both creatures.

i accept the concept that animal's still have feelings and a mouse is not just a mouse! just because there are thousands of mice does not diminish the love of life to each and every one of them. and that is something every creature shares- we are alive and it is natural to want to remain so

I've had my mouse for 5 days or so, and she's been extremely skittish. When I had chosen her, the guy that was helping me picked her up completely wrong (he came at her from the top, with quick movements), and I could tell my mouse was frightened. I took her home with me, and she's still extremely skittish and jumpy. Whenever anyone in my family walks by her cage, she hides in her tube, and whenever I stick my hand in the cage to let her get used to it, she does the same. Depending on whether or not she's at the bottom level of the cage, she immediately jumps into her wheel and runs when she sees my hand. It's happened every time I have tried to put my hand in her cage, and I'm wondering if it's still too late to regain her trust.

We have had two female rats for 3 months. We pick them up daily. We also have put our fingers through the bars to pet their heads and they have never bitten. Occationally they might nibble and then walk away. Out of the blue one aggressively bit my daughter's finger. Blood everywhere. Next night, same thing. Why the change? I am afraid of that one now. I have picked her up since but I'm not very comfortable with her anymore. I need to find a home for her. Some of my kids are young and I can't have something that bites like that. Is there someone that is looking for company for their pet rat and can work with her? If I open the cage door she comes up and I can pet her. Does anyone know why the sudden change in behavior?

My laundry room is extremely messy, and she's been gone for 6 days now. I'm thinking she's still alive. We've given her food and water, and set a trap that won't hurt her. The trap has been laying out for 3 days. Like I said, I think she's still alive, but the laundry room is huge, and you can barely see the floor if you know what I mean. Any tips?

She has a friend who sits on the floor and plays with her hamster. I'm afraid that if my daughter does this, the hamster will get away. I guess I'm really asking, "How hard is it to catch a runaway hamster? Are they fast?"

I know this question sounds funny, and I am lauging a little as I ask it, but I'd really like to know if people are able to play with their hamsters outside of the cage. Thanks!
