Yes you can play with hamsters outside thier cages. Hopefully the hamster is tame.....and it wont mind being held. If you are worried about it getting away and being fast have her sit in the tub the first few times so she gets used to it. Once you know how it reacts and get more comfortable with it then go to another room. I had a few when I was younger and I dont believe they are too fast. But you cant take my word on that. I would stay in a room that doesnt have a lot of hiding places. =0)

Yes people actually tame hamsters enough to take them out and play with them. Now the question is ....is your daughters hamster that tame? I have a pet rat that sits on the back of the couch for hours by himself without me around. He is also litter trained so anything is possible when i comes to these little guys..

My hamsters are quick, but you just scoop 'em up and you got a ham in your hand. I play with mine all the time like that/ And if they do get under a bed or behind something, thy will come out because they'll get bored and wonder why you didn't follow! If you want to allow your daughter to play with her ham outside of the cage on he floor, safley. Get a critter play pen at Wal Mart. I have one, they are really nice. They are metal and they can't squeeze through the bars. They are about $11

My daughter (age 5) sits on the floor and holds her hamster and pets him. She's very cautious with him and he's never gotten away from her.
Our hamster has gotten out of his cage a couple of times and was quite easy to scoop up, once I figured out where he was. It probably depends on how tame your hamster is.

yes they are fast. try to 'hamster proof' the room first, put all cords up high, unplug stuff, shut doors and windows, block heater vents.....and yeah, she can. you can also make a hamster play pen with a plastic box, or bring out some of his toys to make a playroom for him

Is it a fast hamster? I wouldn't worry as long as she keeps a close eye on it.

It can't run THAT far. Just makes sure there aren't small spaces for it to run to, or get stuck in.
I'd be more worried about it biting her.
If she makes sure it stays close, and has an eye/hand on it at all times, she should be good.
How old is your daughter?
