What kind of wood is ok for guinea pigs? I am planing to use some kind is wood instead of coroplast and then fleece covering it then news paper then bedding on top of that. And i was just wonderin what kind of wood was ok to put under the fleece.

im not talking about shavings i am talking about like wood planks then i am going to cover the wood planks with fleece then the fleece with news paper then the news paper with shaving
what i want to know is what kind of wood can i use for the planks??

Untreated plywood would be the way to go
Put a small screen, like a window screen. to keep them from chewing on the wood down then the bedding on top. I wouldn't use ANY cedar bedding ever! Pine, newspaper ( tho I would worry about the chemicals in the ink), or hay/straw are great for pigs.
No matter what you put they are going to chew and your going to have to replace the wood in short order.. next to a beaver pigs can chew wood with the best of them! Actually I've kept them in cardboard boxes they could easily climb out of only to have them chew a hole and escape.. silly critter rather chew than climb!

For the bottom of the cage, probably the best choice would be a water-resistant plywood. But don't use plywood where the guinea pig will gnaw on it, as it contains toxic glue. This isn't a problem for the floor though. The floor will be peed on and water spilled on it.
Really I don't think any wood would harm the guinea pig if it was the floor of the cage. But where the pig will gnaw, just make sure there's nothing toxic on or in it. Plain wood itself should be fine.
[One day I caught some little boys feeding my guinea pig toothpicks. I also knew him to eat plastic film and aluminum foil. These dietary items made me nervous, but didn't hurt the pig.]

aspen shavings. Also, litter made from recycled paper pulp works well to absorb odors and is safe for guinea pigs. These paper litters have had the inks and other chemicals washed out. Carefresh and Megazorb are both examples of safe beddings.

Rick T is optimal. yet easily a safer guess could be a plastic cage, until it extremely is chilly. I actually have a pair guinea pigs and a small decision of different styles of animals. permit me understand in case you choose something...
