It's my roommates cat but the dog was here first. The cat was raised around small dogs, mine is big. The dog was raised with a cat. We had to put him down. My roommates cat came not long after. The dog is just roams the house when the cat will attack her and by that she literally jumps on top of the dog. She is NOT playing!!! The dog either does absolutly nothing or barks. The dog thinks the cat is playing because that is how the other cat played with her. Giving one away is NOT an option!!! We've tried putting the cat in a carrier so she can get used to the dog and we thought it was working because she hasn't been yowling or attacking her the last 3 days but she attacked her today. What can we do? It's not fair that my dog should have to be outside all the time or that we should lock the cat in a room. Any suggestions would be helpful. It seems that the cat is trying to protect me and/or my roommate from the dog. Other details the cat is a year old and the dog is about 10 months old.

I've loved animals every since i was little & my life goal is to become a Veterinarian.
As of right now, I attend High School in Illinois.

Does anyone know how many years of College &/or Veterinary school i will need after High school?
Also, what are the best Colleges & Veterinary schools in or around Illinois?

Or to put it simply, what are the steps I will need to take in order to become a veterinian, after completing High School?

Thanks in advance. =]

I was at PETCO today and the cashier informed of a new policy at PETCO that you must be 18 or accompanied by a parent to purchase crickets or feeder mice. What's the deal with this policy?

My horse is wonderful. He is great to ride, and fun to groom and handle. I'm just afraid I'm pushing him too hard. He is 23 years old, and a pinto gelding. Last Thursday, on a trail ride,we were cantering when my friend started cantering her horse faster and faster .My horse, Dusty, was very frisky, and wanted to go faster too, he is 14.2 hh, so he couldn't catch up in a canter. You guessed it, he galloped, when I slowed him down, he bucked twice, yet I still clung on to him.He was a total runaway. I gradually got him to stop before my friend got her horse to stop. He wanted to keep on going, but I walked him in a couple 20 m circles to calm him down. I am afraid he did this because I am pushing him to hard, and he only wanted to please me by going fast. Maybe it is just my imagination, but I'm not sure. Could anyone tell me if I am pushing him too hard?

I asked a question about whether a male or female rabbit was a better pet for my children, I had heard that male rabbits were more aggressive. I haven't had any answers and wondered if i had managed to post the question properly?

I bent down to look at her leg and she didn't have any pressure on it. My horses leg was shacking a little bit.My mare is 18.I did run barrels with her for the first time in a long time a few days ago. Will somebody tell me what might be wrong with her!!!

It always amazes me when people have animals they know nothing about. Some dont even know How to Feed the poor things!

Also as Dogs can be dangerous if incorrectly treated (especially SOME breeds) is it time to introduce a basic test first! Something like the basic car or motorbike test?

I called my vet the other day and asked what flea medicine I should get for my cats and dog (the dog has a few fleas). They said they would only reccommend Advantix and Advantage (conviniently the only two that you can only get from a vet's office...like the beauty salon claiming that only THEIR shampoo will stop your hair from falling out later in life or whatever...). I asked if I could still use the other three brands on the shelf and was told that Hartz has been linked to many many animal deaths and should absolutely not be used. I looked them up online and the only website that seems to say this are websites like, www.hartzvictims.org, www.animalhelp.com, and www.againsthartz.com. Yet they ALL say that this many lawsuits have been filed, this many news reports have been done on them etc...I am asking...where are all these news reports? I want one reliable news story about Hartz being linked to many deaths...
