Pet Insurance will not help you now. It does not even cover pre-existing conditions. If the animals is sick, it needs to see a vet before you could get any insurance. And insurance is not really cheap. Can be about $300 per year and does not cover the entire bill.
Talk to the local Humane Society and see if they have a staff vet and can get you reduced cost vet care.
Otherwise, sign the dog over to the Humane Society so it might get the care it deserves!!!

No insurance is now going to cover cancer. You cannot just sign up a dog with cancer and expect them to pay. Can't do that with people insurance, can't do that with pet insurance!!!

You've already received some great advice. Trying to insure a pet who is already sick is like trying to insure a house that's already on fire. Financially, insurance companies couldn't do this and stay in business. I am truly sorry for what you're going through. I was in a similar situation and could only learn the hard way to purchase the insurance when they're pups. I don't believe they checked my credit with the insurance I have now since it's on a pay as you go basis. If I don't pay for it, I lose it. Here's hoping for the best for you and your dog. xoxoxo

Hmm, are there no charitable places that do free pet care for those who cannot afford it otherwise?

I think with insurance, they usually have a bit of a clause about "pre-existing" conditions - and a vets report might well say "this must have been a problem for X days/weeks". They are not completely naive to this kind of thing....

Also they often exlcude claims for the first X weeks/months to try and avoid fraud.

Unfortunately you will not be able to get pet insurance if your dog has already been diagnosed with cancer.

You said you're in Mass -- depending on your location call one of the following places:

Boston -- Call Angell Memorial -- I think they are in Jamaica Plain -- definitely in the city.

Suburbs west of Boston: Tufts Veterinary Clinic or Westwood Emergency Care

If it isn't too far for you -- we found the people at Tufts to be amazing. We almost lost our dog, but they saved him. Their veterinarians are incredible - and they take the time to explain things to you. We did find out first hand the insurance issue (we tried to get it, but couldn't) but Tufts did work with us to create a plan where we could pay the fees. We saw a lot of dogs with cancer there. (Our dog had a reaction to his distemper meds -almost died - he had to have a couple of blood transfusions)

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you and your dog.

PS -- Tufts is in Grafton, MA

unhappy. you won't be in a position to get puppy coverage because of the fact your canines is ill. You get puppy coverage once you get a puppy and that's meant to be an help in vet look after the dimensions of the pets existence. additionally, there's a waiting era while the puppy coverage is available, YOU pay the preliminary vet costs and then get reimbursed, there's a deductible, it relatively is going to NOTcover a pre-cutting-edge subject. Be a responsible proprietor and get this canines to a vet regardless of if this is ill or terminate your rights and hand him over to the ASPCA for therapy and not in any respect very own a puppy back.
