I don't want in any way to belittle the loss of the families of the VT students and professors killed by Cho. But CNN and Today and all the news shows can't do enough interviews with the families of these kids, while the kids the same age being killed in Iraq are mere footnotes.

And Iraq was avoidable.

i have received some mails from gun defenders and most of them said that it would have been worse (about virginia tech killings) had the killer placed a bomb...so it makes me wonder, is it bomb construction something everyone learns at school??? are the gun defenders just using irrational reasons to defend their guns???

Today Bush said "I will strongly reject an artificial timetable (for) withdrawal and/or Washington politicians trying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job," .

Minus the 'artificial timetable withdraw' part sense it is a "and/or" statement, he is part of the "Washington politicans" in my view, so he should back off on telling those in uniform what to do. Right?

According to yahoo news
Senator Arlen Specter told Fox Reid's comments were "very destructive."

But, he added: "Certainly, the war is not being won."

Spector is basically agreeing with Reid. Why won't bush listen to these guys?

Obama (quoting)
``We must neither retreat from the world, nor try to bully it into submission.''

again Obama...
On Monday, Obama reiterated his call for a phased withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq

When you withdraw troops, this is a retreat. We are not winning a war by cut and run and having a liberal extremist visit syria to negotiate with a terrorist is NOT a glowing example of world leadership as he supported.
after supporting the pelosi grandstanding attempt in syria on one hand, heres another flip flop soon after...again quoting obama
but it would be a mistake to "cede our claim of leadership in world affairs" because Americans might be tempted to turn inward in the face of negative world opinion.
HOW IS NEGOTIATING WITH AN KNOWN TERRORIST SYMPATHIZING COUNTRY FOSTERING POSTIVE OPINION???

agan quoting obama'Also, he said the world must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons
Same question. How does giving up on our soldiers and caving to Syria aid in this?

My generation is known for being lazy and not as educated as past era’s. I think with the teens today we are going to have a very weak work force in the future. Teens today expect to much money for things that they do. I’m a freshman in highschool right now and I think I’m going to get the worst of a depression if one happens. I’m currently working with my father and saving up money for items I want and also saving up to have some extra money for the future. I see many teens around my high school unwilling to work and listening to banal and awful R&B music; I judge people on what type of music they listen to and sadly most people at my school listen to terrible music. Some people are into the horrible satanic music while others are into the stupid R&B my generation is awful. Although everything around now is not that bad. Coldplay and Radiohead rock!

Why do you think this happened? Had these people been so abused they thought this a resolution. Or do you think bullies and the like are out of control? What can we do to stop this?

I know what he did was wrong, and I don't praise him for doing it, but I feel sorry for the kid, he must have been mistreated his whole life and never had anyone to talk to about it, so all of his hated and emotions were bottled up his whole life and just snapped. He must have also been devil-possessed to do something like that. My heart goes out to the victims and thier families, and the poor kids soul.

This goes to show you that kids can be cruel. Even if its just a little teasing, PEOPLE HAVE FEELINGS folks, next time your about to tease someone for being poor, or for being 'ugly' or whatever, you better think twice, everyone has feelings no matter if they are 5, 9, 16, 21, or 90 years old. Words do hurt, keep that in mind.

the college professor at Emmanuel College for his discussion in the classroom about the Virginia Tech shootings? I don't think he should be fired. I think it's ridiculous that the college did that. And for those who haven't seen the story I put the link below... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070423/ap_on_re_us/professor_fired

What do you all think about the new National I.D. and the Identification microchip they are developing? Do you think it's a good thing?

Also, what do you all think about the similarity in our changing economy to the Bible scripture of Revelations?

I am kitted up in the attic with an iron pipe, a lighter and an aerosol. Looks like the whole towns gone crazy, not sure how many survivers there are. Don't expect much help from the military as they seem to have been experimenting with some chemical weapon. Anyways, not sure how long I can keep them out. What should I do, stay and fight or try and make a run for it out of the attic window. Please be quick.

Following the Dunblane Massacre March 13, 1996 in which 18 were killed including the gunman at a Scottish primary school, under Tony Blair the UK passed The Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 which banned ALL handguns (excluding law enforcement). Since this ban, there has not been a school shooting in the UK, with the exception of some BB gun incidents. People are screaming for changes to prevent future incidents similar to the ones seen recently, would this be a step in the right direction especially since it has proven itself successful? Or will handgun enthusiast wait until one of their children is injured and say "man, maybe we should have banned handguns". What do ya think? Your argument better not be "it's to hard to ban all handguns", it was just done 10 years ago.
