In the middle of a battle in Fallujah in April 2004, an M80 grenade landed a foot away from Fred Ball. The blast threw the 26-year-old Marine sergeant 10 feet into the air and sent a piece of hot shrapnel into his right temple. Once his wound was patched up, Ball insisted on rejoining his men. For the next three months, he continued to go on raids, then returned to Camp Pendleton, Calif.

But Ball was not all right. Military doctors concluded that Ball was suffering from a traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic headaches, and balance problems. Ball, who had a 3.5 grade-point average in high school, was found to have a sixth-grade-level learning capability. In January of last year, the Marine Corps found him unfit for duty but not disabled enough to receive full permanent disability retirement benefits and discharged him.

The Supreme Court has just said (in one of it's majority opinions on the decision to uphold the abortion ban) that women must be protected from making a bad decision.

How many women, here, are glad that 5 men on the Supreme Court are now protecting you from making a bad decision?

..running, rifle in hand , across Virginia Tech campus. Most of the other cops were fat. The grieving students were also overweight. A nation of gluttons, eating themselves into an early grave. An every day acceptable aspect of American madness.

Was it any wonder Seung-Hui felt the way he did?

I mean, this isn't the first time it happened in your country. Shouldn't bullying and discriminating in your country have been lessened by now? (especially among students)

Or do you deny being responsible for such incidents

(not in accusing note but rather of curiosity, why such a country as yours, a first world, has these incidents)

The point is for the oil companies to see just how much buying power we have. Right now, to them we are like lemmings being led wherever they want us to go. Five dollars a gallon? Okay! NP need it so i'll pay it. Gimme a break-- and u get a clue! I drive a hybrid BTW :)

Entertainment Tonight just said that Cho may have been angry over being rejected by Anna Nicole Smith!!! What the heck was that about?

I didn't catch the whole thing but apparently he sent her a love letter or several letters and got a form letter in response from her publicist and he felt he deserved more.

But so what??? That doesn't amount to "rejection" like he could legitimately ask for a date and she said no.

I guess either the guy was truly nuts or ET is overstating what actually happened.

Does anybody know? Is there anybody on the west coast who can watch ET and then tell me the story?

Until today I seethed with hatred for this man. The devastation is just unfathomable. But after reading about his life, even going back to his childhood, it's quite obvious that he was severely disturbed, possibly even suffering from Autism, which makes people social inept and isolated, living in their own world (which it seems he did). I think I have finally forgiven him and feel bad for him as well as the victims. What he did was atrocious, but he was sick. I now place the blame on the people that saw this (probably his parents/family) and chose to do nothing about it.

What are your feelings?

Dont you think that is kind of funny to see that all the shooting so far had taken place to very good schools in good locations? Maybe this schools as well should be secured just like the schools in the other (mostly black people) areas? So far nothing had happened over there.

Now that America has seen the video and pictures, we know his life wasn't all easy-breezy. So I ask this. Do you feel sorry for him? Now, this would have been a slightly different situation if the guy did his killing spree and then caught and faced all of these hurt angry people during a nasty trial, but he killed himself, wanting to end his life. Aside from the fact that he was really looney and it was hard to do something about it, do you sympethize with him? He suffered what lots of kids suffer during adolescence. Or is he just that sick an individual and he just planned this as revenge? Keep in mind that there were no connections between him and his victims, and he could have just wiped out his roommates and professors, including Nikki Giovanni. But it was just random. Just a thought.
