Basically, The Blue Angels' mission is to promote recruiting efforts, serve a positive role models and as goodwill ambassadors for the US Navy and Marine Corps.

The flight demonstrations are a display of the incredible skills possessed by fast-jet aviators. Accidents do happen but only very rarely. The people who pilot these machines are the elite and crashes often occur due to technical faults rather than human error. The crowd is kept well away from the area in which any flight demonstrations take place so that if an accident does occur, very few people are injured.

And it is not so dangerous as some of the combat situations that the military find themselves in, where great flying skills are necessary to survive. Although it may not seem like it at times, these pilots are serving their country.

Blue Angels are our country's military ambassadors of avaition. Mostly w/ a US Navy background, Blue Angel pilots are cosidered to be an elite group of pilots.

Just about everything Blue Angels are considered the best--right down to their mechanics: no detail is left unattended.....EVER.

Flying a subsonic jet carries immense knowlege of aviation physics, ergonomics and high alertness. But when you fly air acrobatic manuvers, where you have to "hit" the specific vortexes, speed and distance from other planes each time without fail.......something is bound to happen: either mechanical or pilot error.

Air shows are done in areas where minimal risks---if any--are aimed at the public or any city/town or residential area: feel assurred, your life and home are safe from air show strike.

Many sports are dangerous. Very dangerous. People like adrenalin.
What I think is very important is to have this kind of show in a region that even if an accident happens, nobody is hurt.
For nobody I mean people that has nothing to do with the show.

People like to see risk and things that go fast. Slow and safe are boring these days.
