"We will always live with the fact that Kate and I were not in the apartment when it happened and we have to face up to that," says Gerry McCann in a revealing conversation set to air this Saturday, Nov. 17, on 48 Hours. "We're very much trying to focus on what can be done now, not what could have been done before because we did not do it."

Correspondent Peter Van Sant reports on this story for 48 Hours Mystery, this Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

(CBS) The events surrounding Madeleine McCann's disappearance remain a mystery that has captured the world's attention. 48 Hours Mystery goes undercover in an international investigation of the missing child and has obtained exclusive never-before-seen home movies of the family taken in the wake of the tragedy and uncovering new details in the case.
In addition to this exclusive footage 48 Hours also speaks with John Ramsey, Jon Benet's father, as well as Ed Smart, the father of Elizabeth Smart, who disappeared and was found nine months later, in their first interviews weighing in on the McCann case and in which Smart discusses a private conversation he had with Gerry McCann.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

I know the news is doing it's job and news is news but why would we want everyone to know about these issues. Shouldn't these things be taken care of internally? Why would the FBI release this? Isn't this just saying "Hey terrorists, you can get whatever you want on a plane here in the US", or "come use your Anthrax here, you'll kill thousands and we couldn't stop it."?

Just curious about your opinion?

These kids (teens/young adults) are crossing the border into Nuevo Laredo and simply disappearing. It's been going on for a few years now? Some have shown up dead. Others are being held for ransom. Yet others have been given as "gifts" to Mexican drug lords. And yet, our government says it's up to Mexico to do something about it! The politicians in Laredo are afraid to do anything about it out of fear it will drive away business, so they just look the other way! It's amazing! And the media is ignoring it, yet spends HUGE amount of media time covering the disappearance of ONE teenager in Aruba (for example).

Have YOU heard about this? I'm curious to know how much of America and the world are even aware this outrage is occurring?

I saw this in a TV program last night about the last World Cup:

Before the World Cup a Paraguayan footballer, Roberto Acuna, was interviewed by a young Swedish journalist during the preparations for the competition.

Later the player had his translator call the girl saying he wanted to see her that night ‘to get to know her better’.

Rather than simply saying no she then reported the case to Fifa and demanded that he be banned from the competition, claiming she felt insulted.

I couldn‘t find out what punishment was eventually given to Acuna but fortunately, as Fifa is led by the famously politically incorrect Sepp Blatter, he was not banned from the competition.

************
However, it seems that (most) women not only still expect men to do the chasing but they also claim the right to scream ‘sexual harassment’ if they are not interested, rather than simply saying no.

...in your view, who really was responsible for 9/11?

2007-11-15 01:23:46 · 6 answers · asked by SLF 6 in Current Events

Why is it that respected and distinguished army officers, politicians, scientists, congressmen, and other well informed people INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE 9/11 COMMISSION doubt the official conclusions?

Why can't they see what every ignorant and ill informed nobody can see without even looking at the evidence?

Millions of Americans watch Fox News, etc., and ignore every other news source, do not enquire for themselves, and yet they know instinctively that the 911 attacks were carried out by a few arabs with little knives controlled by a bearded lunatic in a cave. There is no need to look at the evidence, as only a complete moron would doubt that the official conclusions are definitive, and that the government has done everything possible to identify the culprits.

What is it with these intelligent, educated and knowledgeable people? Risking ridicule for what they believe in! Fools!

I wonder what will happen next, and how he would fare in a prison? Do you think he will return to his religious roots? After all, through his own example of repentence OJ could save many a lost soul. And of course he could turn his salvation story into a book, with proceeds going directly to the Goldman family. That said, I'm certain that America's football icon has many fans who just can't wait for him to join them behind bars.

Are you freakin kidding me?? Apparantley, Santa's in Australia are no longer allowed to say 'ho ho ho' because it is offensive to women. I wanna meet the woman who automatically thinks that she's being talked about when a big fat guy in a red suit tries to entertain children by saying 'ho ho ho' I think its stupid, mainly because when women protest against stuff like this...kinda makes them look like they have a guilty conscience. If ' ho ho ho' offends you...QUIT BEING ONE!! Does anyone else agree? Do any women feel offended by this?

Body language experts: 'Something doesn't smell right'
November 15, 2007
BY SHAMUS TOOMEY Staff Reporter/stoomey@suntimes.com

NBC's Matt Lauer told Drew Peterson he seemed "extraordinarily calm and collected." Body language experts aren't so sure.

After watching the interview, Lillian Glass said Peterson's hard swallowing, clenched jaw, rigid posture, shoulder movements and more left her unconvinced about what Peterson told Lauer.

Another expert, Kevin Hogan, said Peterson's rapid eye blinking could indicate nervousness -- or deception.

Glass, also a communication psychologist, took issue with what Peterson said and how he said it, including focusing on himself more than his missing wife. "When you look at all of those, your gut reaction is, something doesn't smell right," Glass said.

Sitting rigid in his chair suggested Peterson was trying to control himself, she said. Lifting his shoulders during answers suggested he wasn't telling the truth, she said.

If you watched it, what'd you think of his answers and body language? I don't believe him one bit. He almost sounds like he has given up like he said that if they find him guilty, he's ready to go to prison. Someone that wasn't guilty would definitely not have that blase attitude. Also, they would focus more on worrying about their wife not their innocence or guilt. His past wife's death is definitely fishy. I do think he killed her and unfortunately, he killed Stacy as well. No one has come forward to say that Stacy had a 'secret lover' or if she talked about ever wanting to just get away from her life especially her kids. The guy is just so guilty. He is very arrogant and not remorseful at all.

Russia could place missiles in neighbouring Belarus to counter a planned US missile defence system, a senior Russian general has said.
Col-Gen Vladimir Zaritsky spoke after Belarus, a close ally of Russia, said it would re-equip its forces with new Russian Iskander short-range missiles.
Russia says the US plan to site parts of a missile defence system in Poland and the Czech Republic is a threat.
The US says it is needed to counter missiles fired by states such as Iran.

Its now emerged that CBS are planning to show never before seen footage shot from a family friend in the aftermath of Madeleine's disappearance which tracks the McCann family as they 'search' for Madeleine.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/14/48hours/main3501086.shtml

Wowzers ............. at what point did they think filming themselves looking for a missing child was more important than say ......... I dont know ........ the friggen person doing the filming actually looking for the child themselves as well!

If it was my child that went missing, the last thing I need is a family friend filming my every step while Im desperately searching for my child. But then I didnt want to become a TV celebrity either.

These two make me sick.
