Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

I think it is utterly ridiculous. Santa has been saying "HO HO HO" forever. To think it needs to be changed is dumb.

And to say that part of the reason is so that women aren't offended - any woman who is offended at Santa for saying the traditional "HO HO HO" must be a ho, otherwise she wouldn't be offended.

This is asinine. Bah humbug!
How much further will we go to try to keep from 'offending' people? This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. In a world where it's okay to use four-letter vulgarities on TV and radio; where we can e-mail obscene, disgusting porn and filth across the world to each other; and where rap artists can 'sing' about rape, murder and mayhem without being censored, why in the world would anyone worry about a jolly little phrase that Santa Claus has been bellowing for centuries???

The world is becoming too politically correct for my taste. It has always been the traditional thing that Santa says. Children have always had mixed dealings with Santa. Some are too shy or young to be hoisted upon a complete stranger's knee. But if Santa wants to work he must follow the rules or he won't get any presents.

It's stupid. HO is the way to go. In Chinese, ho means good. Let's outlaw English because everything used is potentially offensive to someone. Oops. Sorry.

I think that is so typical. Very funny. But typical. Carry on. Keep a stiff upper lip.

Funny that the Italian lady above me thinks Sydney is in America. We get blamed for everything, don't we?

I think it is an "AMERICANATA" as usual. In my opinion, he can still say hohoho it is not a big deal.

There are bigger problems to solve first.

Bye bye from Italy
