Check msnbc or nbc nightly news. There are 2 corespondents that have really been considered hero's in Iraq. 2 of them are Richard Ingle and Jim Maceda. I don't have the information on hand. Richard did a report this week regarding Pakistani house arrest protesting! But he has credibility for his Iraq reporting!

I'm glad you are looking into this. Unlike many combat situations in the past, journalists in Iraq are targets of the enemy, not just collateral damage. It seems to me that anybody who leaves the safe zone to go into the field would be acting in a heroic manner; but we don't hear any more about the heroic actions of journalists than we do about the heroic actions of our troops. I couldn't name any.
Then there's the anonymous person who made the video of Saddam Hussein's execution; he might be a hero or a villein or just a maverick, but nobody seems to know who he is... Anyway he's not exactly a journalist...

John Simpson(UK reporter).
I wouldn't call them heroes,as such, but it takes b*lls for someone to put their lives at risk,to bring us the'truth',about what is actually happening at the time.
