I'm not very knowledgeable about what all kinds of things can be grown in USDA hardiness zones, but I know what they are. I have a few questions. Please only answer if you're VERY knowledgeable about USDA hardiness zones.

I live in a Zone 5 climate about 15 miles north of the Zone 5/Zone 6 border, could I grow Zone 6, and even some Zone 7 plants if I was willing to risk the occasional year they might not produce?

Can you grow tropical plants in a Zone 7 climate? Tropical plants like oranges, bananas, papayas, guavas, mangos, etc?

I know that northern Minnesota is Zone 4, Fairbanks, Alaska is Zone 3, and Barrow, Alaska is Zone 2, what would a Zone 1 place be? What can be grown in Zone 2 and Zone 1 climates with maybe only a dozen or so frost-free days?

What is the highest hardiness zone? Would it be Zone 11 or is there a Zone 12?

What's the coldest growing zone. Is there a Zone 0?

Thanks in advance to whoever can answer my question.

I hear scratching noises coming from my bush in my front yard! I tried to take a broom and gently move the branches around. I just saw a bunch of muddy mulch in a very thick ball-shape. I couldnt see any opening and it is such a thick bush that I couldnt seperate without disturbing the nest. I honestly dont know what is in there, but Im very worried! It is winter here and the snow just melted. If I didnt hear this scatching noise I wouldnt have known it was there! I never see birds around my front yard, so honestly I dont know whats in there!

Hi folks, and festive greetings.

However -
I yjought it reasonable to put up two strings of twimkling LED jobs acsoss hedges & bushes in the front garden, and in my humble opinion, all 300 of the tiny things seem quite tastefull.

The is one bloke in town that spends ages putting up things like flashing Santas with flashing reindeer, huge "Merry Christmas " fittings, and string upon string of big multi-coloured bulbs.
The place is a fairground, and over the top.
There is even a rotating beacon on the chimney.

Mind, he has painted his pebble-dash house lime green as well.

What sort, if any, a display would you contemplate ?

Ok, recently i asked about why my phal. orchid isnt growing flowers, and it's been about a year....I feed it(fertilizer) about every other week or two, very weak solution, about half than the recommend dosage. The fertilizer is 31% phosphate and 19% Nitrogen....Now i was told to get a fertalizer with a higher phosphate content than nitrogen, but I've been feeding my plant this alll along (higher phosphates supposedly increase flower growth).....the plant gets about 8hrs of light from the grow lamp.....it's growing very very well, It has grown two new leaves, and various new roots....very sturdy and extremely healthy plant....just no flowers!!!! what can i do to encourage my orchid to flower for me?

I live in an area that has tonns of clay in the yard. Lots of roots too (huge, beautiful trees!).

When it rains, you can slide all over the place on my lawn. My lawn also had small bald spots - I guess from my dog running all over when it's wet.

I've planted grass seed and it seemed to start off well, but then 1/2 way through the summer it was just like before. It looks fine when the grass is longer.

How can I improve my grass without laying sod? I've been told I have to dig up the top 6" of my lawn and put down proper soil (urgh) or lay sod. My yard is pretty big so sod would be pretty expensive.

Any suggestions?

It is party shady in my yard because of all the big trees.

Any help would be appreciated. PS. Zone 4 (I think - southern Ontario)

I'm not a master gardener, I just wanted some low-maintenance plants to decorate my room. I looked at the Chia herb garden on amazon and it got terrible reviews. Any ideas?
