I am particularly interested in prarie dropseed and feather reed grasses. I live in easterm KS and love the way the grasses sway in the breeze, and prairie dropseed sounds like a great fall accent. Ideas anyone?

i have four tomato plants each in a small plant pot. i was planning on repotting them today into some bigger tubs but i have noticed that in the soil of one of my plants, there is a small hole and every now and again i see a bee, not a wasp or a bumble bee, go into the little burrow. i'm worried that if i try to repot the plant i will annoy it and it will sting me. what should i do?????

I grow veggies in my backyard. When I originally dug the garden, the soil was mostly clay. I added a lot of topsoil to it and grew a summer's worth of veggies.

The next summer (this summer) the soil was rock hard. I ripped my hands up trying to break up the large chunks of hard topsoil/clay. I don't want to go through that again next year.

At the end of this summer, is there something I can add to the soil to prevent it from hardening? It has to be safe to grow veggies in.

Thanks in advance.

So...we bought this old house and remodeled.
It had a ton of roses 3 feet thick all around it and the were just jammed in there from neglect.
Stupidly I had a guy come over and cut them all down to about 6 inches high. I thot we would lose all but the most hearty. Well now we have all kinds of colors and leaves choking each other out and it a worse mess than ever plus it is stretching 5 feet thick all around the perimitor of my ever shrinking yard...what the heck can we do? we cannot afford to higher root diggers.
help!!

How good are they and how are their Zero Point turn machines for longevity. Have a John Deere 314 that cut 3 acres+ of grass and hauled since new in 1979 and engine lasted 27 years before being rebuilt becuase it was burning oil.
Stopped into Gravely Ariens and just wonder how good they are. Still will never sell the old deere but just wanted to know thinking on another tractor.

My friend trimmed my rosebush and told me to stick the cut stems in fertilized soil right away and possibly a new bush will develop. Is this true? I did it, but I question this method. How long will it usually takes to root itself? Will it even root? I put the stems in the soil 3 weeks ago, but have no idea what to expect. Should I leave them there?

I've noticed small transparent spots on the leaves of my indoor catnip plant and I was wondering the reason. Occasionally, I have also seen very small white bugs moving around the sides of the pot and on the leaves. I think I may also have a problem with fungus gnats with other plants in the same area of the house. I grow mostly herbs, so I'd like to keep treatments of pests safe and non-toxic (my cat included). Please, help!

With my little boy we have just dug and composted an area in the garden for veg/fruit. I wanted to do this to show them how to grow things for themselves when they are older. Problem is i havnt a clue really, i have put a mesh fence around it to stop the dog or cats toileting. What can i do about creepy crawlies.
We have lettuce and carrot seeds, i have 4 strawberry plants and 2 tom plants on my kitchen window. They are getting a bit big now should they go in the garden. How do i protect everything in a organic/ safe way ie no chemicals pellets etc. Thanks for any help.
