I have a Japanese maple that is gorgeous, but I planted it a bit too close to my porch, and its starting to spread out, covering part of my patio. I need to know if I can prune it, and if so, when. Thanks!

I'm interested in planting and growing grapes that would eventually produce a decent cabernet sauvignon. Humbly, Atomic.

In my front yard there are 4 red rose bushes that have been planted over 20 years ago. I live in a duplex and a pink rose bush bloomed today in the middle of the red roses. My landlord[he live in the other duplex and has for 50 years] said he didn't plant it, I didn't plant it and there are no other pink rose bushes in my neighborhood for birds to eat seeds from and dispose of their droppings. It has little pink blooms and is as tall as the red roses. I have some mystical ideas about how it got there. Do any of you believe in signs from beyond.

I believe that is what they are called, they are tiny, red, leave a red smear when you kill them, and they run really fast. They are everywhere around my inground pool, which is surrounded a concrete patio. They are even getting into the water because I stuck my hand in the skimmer basket, and my hand came out with dead ones stuck to it. What can I use to kill them?? Is it safe around the pool water?

Owners manuals for my lawn mowers say to use 30 weight oil. Can I use 5w-30 motor oil in the lawn mowers without any problems? What is the difference between 30 weight oil and 5w-30 motor oil?

I am looking to replace my pansies that are in hanging baskets with an easy to grow flower that isn't that attractive to aphids. Aphids have wrecked my pansies and I am looking to start over with something that aphids will not choose as their host. The location where I am placing my baskets will get about 6 hours of afternoon sun each day. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We had my baby sis's funeral on May 12th. On that day I received a plant that was given to the family.I don't know the name of the plant but I can describe it as being the "typical" funeral plant. It's a very beautiful potted plant with large green leaves but it has a few large white leaves that kind of look like lillies with a yellowish thing in the middle of the white leaf that resembles a corn cob. It sounds kind of strange but it's the best way I know how to describe this plant. Well it's now almost mid June and my plant is dying. I named the plant after my baby sis. I was told all the plant needed was occasional watering and indirect sunlight. I placed it in front of the window and I water it ever few days. It's almost totally dead. if anyone knows the name of my plant (judging by that weird description) please tell me it's name and how I can revive it. Please. I can't let it die.

Moths are one of my most feared creatures in the universe. (I'll wait while you all stop laughing...) Okay...a week or so ago the HUGEST moth I have ever seen got in my mudroom when I was letting the dogs in. I mean he was so big he had shoulders. Anyway, after several attempts (and fake-outs by Mothra) I finally killed it. Today...after cleaning my car out this weekend - my first mistake - I had 7...yes SEVEN moths ambush me in my car throughout the day. Clearly it was the Moth Mafia (the Mothia, if you will) after me for killing their boss. So at the end of my work day, I pulled the moth-mobile into the moth-cave and began to mow the lawn. OMG. They were EVERYWHERE! Every bush and plant I mowed next to at least 10-15 moths would fly out. Even when I mowed next to my deck. What the heck is going on?! It was surreal. At one point, I forgot my fear and started laughing. Sooo...clearly, they all must die. What's the best method - without killing my current plants?

I have these huge trees in my yard that shed gumballs. (Not sure the sceintific name for them.) I was thinking its so many I should do something with them. I don't want to start a compost thing if I don't have to. Can't I just section off my flower beds and throw them in their on top of the soil? And if I do, will it sprout gumball trees? I don't want more, I have a gagillion spiky balls as it is.

I just purchased a beautiful plant from home depot and now I realize that mealworms (I assume) are in my plant. Initially I saw about 1-3 about a month ago when I brought it home, but today they have completely saturated my plant. Is there any way to get rid of them or do i have to get rid of the plant?

I used to see bonfires all over the place, especially in Autumn. Having just cut down a lot of bushes etc I have a ton of debris to get rid of. It would take about 15 trips to the dump or one bonfire but is it illegal to burn rubbish nowadays?

I have an outdoor deck where I can store plants, either in planters or in hanging pots. I would love to get some plants to put out there. Only problem is, I have cats. I would not be able to bring the plants indoors in the fall/winter months because they'd either eat the plants (and those might be toxic) Or knock them over and create a dirty mess.

What kind of plants can I get for outdoors on a deck that go dormant in cold months and that would reflower/regrow when the weather turned warm again? I really don't want to have to buy new plants every year just to enjoy them.

My wave petunias look bad. A few weeks ago, they were full and beautiful. But, the heat has gotten so bad. They look wilted and like they are dying-despite my watering them in the a.m. & in the evening.
I have searched online & think I need to add more soil to their containers. And, maybe trim them back. But, I get conflicting info re. pruning.
Can anyone here tell me, should I trim these plants until they are lush & healthy again? Will it help or harm them?
Wave petunias are supposed to be heat tolerant so I am really puzzled by their appearance.

I live in Florida and have some bromeliads
outside. I
don't know what to do with the bloom after it has bloomed. Do you cut
it off?
Some blooms are coming out of the middle of the plant and some hang
down from a
long stem. Any advice will be helpful.
