I'm not sure where you live at but more than likely it is dry in your area right now. The grass is stressed and when it becomes stressed the natural protection process of the grass is to go to seed to reproduce. This is a built in safety if you will for the grass to survive.

It is seeding and it is very normal for it to do so. They tell you not to mow for a few days after it starts to seed. This helps your grass get thicker without you having to spend too much on grass seed. The price of grass seed is ridiculous.

You probably have crab grass in your yard. Treat your yard for crab grass.
