I keep a burn pit for weeds tumble weeds and brush that gets over grown on my property. my mother told me to mix the ash from my burn pit with the soil for my garden, saying it'll make the plants healthy. i admit, i've never grown a garden on my own before.
but i thought the ash would kill anything that tried to grow there.. any insights?

I don't need it to yield any fruit, this is just for fun. Especially since I don't live in a tropical enviornment.

I've been trying to plant on clay soil but my plants always die and basically won't survive no matter how much fertilizer I put. I know there is something that I need to mix with clay soil to make it a healthy soil. I tried compost and those expensive gardening soil but it seem like it's not enough. I've already spent a lot of money on plants because they keep dying on me. What am I suppose to do? I need help? Thanks. Ann

Why do they use cow manure? I recall that they don't use horse manure coz horses are too nervous. Or is it coz the feed is processed better through all the cows tummies? Therefore less weeds etc.

When you receive a bouquet of flowers, why is it recommended that you cut a couple of inches off of the stems before placing them in a vase?

I had a house built a couple of years ago. We've had a lot of rain lately so the low spots are really starting to show. I'm not at the point of installing a French drain. How can I best fill those spots? Yes, I can use fill dirt but it will kill the grass in the low area. I don't want to dig up the grass, fill in the hole then replant the grass. If I just start slowly adding sand to the low spots would that work with out killing the grass?

I H-A-T-E Bees and Wasps. I wanted to make an extremely potent spray that I can put in any spray bottle and it will kill it quickly. I need some ideas. Please help. What should I make it out of?? (I'm also accepting homemade sprays that can knock a bee/wasp out of the air and kill it instantly :) )

Those trees are supposed to grow 10 to 15 feet a year. Any one here ever had/has some? If yes, how are they compared to other trees?
