I live in a small one bedroom flat in Melbourne's inner south-east (Armadale) that was built in the 70's. It has a very small bathroom/toilet that I'd like to renovate along with other improvements for future resale.
I reckon the bathroom space would be better utilised if the bath was replaced by a shower cubicle. But I've been told that would reduce the resale value a lot (mainly because females prefer baths).
Do you think that only having a shower would affect the resale value of the flat very much?

For example, we keep a few blankets in the living room and only use them when watching movies, tv, etc. (not used for bedding). Thanks!

I have recently moved house to a 4 bedroom end terrace house and have two young children. At the back of my house there is a small yard and where the garden once was a double garage has been built which is full of junk. If I knock down the garage and include the yard I could have a small enclosed garden (that faces east getting morning and midday sun). Everything I read suggests garages add value - and there is no other off street parking. There is however plenty of on street parking. A garden would also improve the outlook from the rooms at the back of the house. There is no attic as two of the bedrooms are in the roof - but a shed would take some clutter. Any thoughts greatly appreciated to solve my dilemma - once I take the sledgehammer to the garage there is no going back!

How do you check to see if there is a clog, blockage in a vent in your bathroom. Where do I check to see if there is a vent for my shower. I looked on the roof and saw the pipe that comes out of the bathroom, but what do I do now to check it.

I want to install an IKEA halogen light fixture in my kitchen. It has black, white and striped green wires. My ceiling mounting has 2 paired black, 2 paired white,1 red and copper wires.I forgot to note how the old fixture was wired:(.

I tried black-on-black & white-on-white but the halogen fixture does not light up.Red-on-black & white-on-white,the light is always ON.

I tried red-on-black, white-on-white and black-on-striped green. The halogen light switches on and off however when i switch on another kitchen light the circuit break trips, which does not happen before.

The fixtures' switch that I am replacing have a red and black wire attached to it.

Help!

I haven't seen it in stock in any stores near me here. I wanted to know if it is available as an import anywhere or do you have to order it from the UK?

current set up is:

External store/plant room walls:- The external walls are 105mm brick outer skin, 75mm cavity with 100mm lightweight concrete block inner skin. Inner stores walls are 100mm brick

why is concrete used as the internal wall in this setup instead of brick? and why in the stores is brick used instead of concrete?

Tried plunging but it only helps for awhile. This problem seems to come and go no matter what "number" has been performed. Any suggestions?
