We have recently moved to a refurbished house. The previous owners put a new roof on the garage, but did nothing to the walls and the bricks look very old and some have crumbled. I was wondering - is there something like plaster that I can put on them (on the inside) that covers them and helps stabilize them - by that I mean fills in any missing mortar and broken brick. I mean something like a plaster skim.
thanks in advancel

Help, I rented a house and there is a very bad oder when you first walk in.I have tried sprays.I clean very good, left windows open, checked for leaky pipes and done everything I can think of to get rid of the smell. We even had the owner check for sewer gasses but to no satisfaction. This smell is driving me crazy because I feel that if anyone comes to visit it's the first thing that hits them.Does anyone know any sollutions for this problem. My next step is to buy an air purifier but I really don't know what type to buy or if it would even work. PLEASE any suggestions would be helpful as to how to get rid of the smell or of type of air purifier that is not too expensive that you know that works on oders. Thanks for any help

I have baseboard heating in my house... the boiler is approx 50 years old.

My existing thermostats have 4 wires (white, red, green, and black).

On the NEW thermostat I bought, the instructions tell me to ignore the colors, and to copy the config of my old thermostat.

However, my old thermostat simply has red and white on one screw to the left - and green and black on one screw to the right.

Therefore, I cannot copy the configuration to from the old thermostat to the new, because the new thermostat requires each color to go to a seperate terminal.

Any ideas?

Water sample shows large amounts of fecies in pool..thanks to a feud with the neighbors... was told we have to drain the pool. Pool is about 4 months old, and I am worried about the liner shrinking up or the walls collapsing. What is the proper way to do this?

I am staying in a apartment, recently the downstairs owner complained about the ceiling of their bathroom is leaking. They said is due to tile problem or the piping problem of my apartment. Thus, I wonder who should spend money to fix it ? What is the standard law saying about it ? Please help. Thanks

My pet turtles are growing and while I am saving up for a custom built tank they need more swimming space. They are currently in a 20 gallon tank, half filled (need space for basking site and lamp), and I'd like to find a container at least twice that for now, but I have very little money to spare. I have a small living room and this is the only room with space available.

I'm trying to think creatively for a soloution.

I'm making a kiln from High Temp Insulating bricks, and will be using either a bullfinch burner kit or a sievert kit to fire the kiln, from a 47kg propane bottle.. I was hoping someone had experience of using either of the above gas kits and could advise which is the most reliable and the quietest. Many thanks.

We have two small bathrooms that are real basic. If one is available, this might be a nice upgrade in the master bath.
