I have a bamboo plant that has grown well. I would like to split to start a new growth but i dont know how to do it. I do not have a green thumb and do not want to kill my plant. It is the first thing I have ever sucessfully grown.

I'm assuming that you are talking about Dracaena ( lucky bamboo.) You can divide the stalks leaving 2 or 3 joints in the section that's been divided from the host plant.
