My husband just had a large garage built for our antique cars. This garage is insulated and heated. He found the cheapest way to finish the walls was OSB board easy to paint no seams to deal with and you can hammer a nail and screw a screw into it and it will hold. Also had better insulating properties than peg or wall board.

What is it you wish to accomplish???? If you need shelving and tool storage, I'd go wiht pegboard. If you just want to finish the walls, the best thing is to complete the drywall!

Define your purpose, and present as well as future needs, and finish the wall accordingly!!

I would buy some of the cheapest paneling you can find, nail it up backwards, and paint it. nobody will ever know. if you do your garage in drywall and you leave your doors open it will get moisture and mold.. if you do peg board you will see the insulation through the holes.
