I just moved to a new apartment. It has an air conditioner which seems to be completely inside it. It is attached to an inner wall of the apartment instead of an external wall. I am old fashioned so I had not seen this before. I usually keep my windows closed and I would like to know if I am getting new oxygen or this AC is only cooling the air that is already inside the place. Thanks a lot.

I heard on the radio yesterday that only the energy saving bulbs will be on sale in the next few years, and that supermarkets will start phasing out stocks of ordinary bulbs within the next year or so. Has anyone els heard this?
What about table lamps and lights where the energy saving bulbs would not fit?

I have a really small garden but if I could find a mini greenhouse could I grow things still? I'm sure I've seen plastic ones somewhere before.

We have moved into our new home and stated from the beginning that the front door needs replacing as the wood is rotten and the windows are not fitted properly. The landlord is refusing point blank to replace the door. Where do we stand and does he have the right to say no when its his property and we are paying rent?? Please advise. Many thanks.

Hi, I have a septic system with a gravel pit. The pit has a serious fat build up and now the system is backed up. I have fixed the source of the problem, but now need to get the fat out of the pit. I have used serious quantities of caustic soda which is having an effect but I haven't actually cleared the blockage. Does anyone know of a substance that is very effective at dissolving a sizeable amount of fat?

We wanted to get a new front deck, and possibly a new front door that is durable. Our company we went with that did our roof, they wanted to charge us 9,000 for both, is that reasonable or is it a rip off?? The new deck they offer, is not made of wood, the pieces are interlocked securely. What company would you recommend if that price is too high that would get the job done, offer a great warranty on both projects, reasonable price and most importantly a quality product?

The person who lived here before me did a HORRIBLE job spackling.

I can fix this by adding 2 more coats of mud, but the walls are already primered.

Is it ok to spackle on top of primered sheetrock?

I am trying to avoid having to sand away many walls full of primer.

Is it ok to do this?

I grew them out of curiosity, but I haven't ever seen a ripe tomatillo - should I wait for the 'cover' to wither, or pluck them when they reach a certain size or color?
